Tis the season eh! Strong and fruity with prominent plum notes. This brew is all that. It takes everything it means to be a Belgian ale, and pushes it one step further. Hyper effervescence, plummy sweetness and a long fruity finish support this heavy heady brew. A towering reddish tan head floats on this dark mahogany brew. The aroma is full of clove and other spices and reminds one of sugared plums.

Mahogany leather cloured ale with off-white head. Semi sweet spiced aroma with yeast . Orange peels and coriander, with smooth alcohol. Nice balance of spices and alcohol. Nov. 28 2004 at MartinT.

Dark pour with some ruby, an off white head that leaves behind nice lacing. Dough, yeast, bitter orange, some citrus and grape to the aroma. Spicy flavors of clove and some hints of cinnamon. Malts, bananas and citrus hops are present as well. Spice filled tangy palate, full body that finishs with alcohol and hops. Nice.

Poured a deep rich brown, with a thick light brown head. The aroma was spicey and sweet. Alcohol was also detected. Very woody flavor, along with different spices and fruits. Really nice seasonal. I was lit up after this one on Christmas Eve.

Nearly opaque brown body, with a huge chunky tan head. Aroma heavy on the candy sugar, spicy with notes orange peel and yeast. Flavor is intensely sweet and characteristic of a dark Belgian. Somewhat estery and peppery. Palate is smooth and carbonated, with a warm, dry alcohol finish.

1996: Pour is dark amber with a tight bubbled tan head...smell is warm and malty and spicy with lots of corriander or clove...taste was nice and sweet with lots of fruit...alcohol still apparent, but slightly oxidized...

Rerate, 2004 bottle and served in a La Chouffe tulip: Pretty much the same as before but the taste seem to be more in conjunction and developed, so I increased the Flavor score to 9.-------- review, 2002: Hazy reddish amber hue with big off-white head and good lace. Aroma hinted of thyme, coriander, orange peel, yeast, and malt. Spicy and malty base taste with a minor bitter finish. Dusty and dry yeast tone in the background. Smooth and lush, creamy mouthfeel. Minor alcohol bite towards the completion of tasting. This is a real nice holiday brew, recommended.

Bottle courtesy of Lou18. Dark hazy brown body witha creamy beige head. (3+) Spicey alcoholic aroam, mild malt and whisps of orange peel. Deep malty flavour base underscores a spiciness aggressively eager to come through. Lightly fruity waves are overshadowed by dominant stereotypically Belgian alcohol character. The booz is prominent but not unpleasant; warming. Fruity Christmasy feel to it. Medium to full bodied palate. Quite nice.
