Commercial Description:
Translation from website: "A beer with a strong, and obvious sweetness. Drink it now, or why not save it a couple of years? It will only improve with time."

This classic hearty ale started out a gold medal winner in the Swedish Homebrewing Championships in 1993, and went on to win gold in the World Beer Cup in 2000. A little something to see you through the longest darkest night.

33cl from Knightly Spirits (Orlando, FL). Pours a fairly clear amber to copper color with one finger off-white head that settles slowly. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of caramel, toffee, candy sugar, ripe dark fruit, fresh tree fruit, hints of apple and light brandy. Flavor is sweet and malty with similar notes of toffee, caramel, honey, light floral esters. Generally medium body with a sweet and malty finish.

11.2 ounce bottle. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a hazy amber/orange color with about a half inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The aroma is mostly fruity, it smells like apricots, pears, figs, caramel, and bready malt. Taste is pretty much the same as the aroma, except with the addition of some peppery spice and oak. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a little bit coating and has moderate carbonation. Drinkability is good, it’s smooth and easy to drink. The alcohol in this brew is well hidden. I think this is a good overall brew. I enjoyed it, and would buy it again in the future.

Bottle. Translucent burnt orange pour with tiny white head. Aroma apple, malt booze and a touch of honey. Flavor is creamy smooth with sweet malts, caramel sweetness, candi sugar, and some light fruitness medium bodied with a nice dry warming finish.

Pours a copper color with no head. Aroma of barley, caramel and some alcohol. Flavor is sweet and malty with some warmness from the alcohol. Easy to drink. A nice beer to drink in the winter.

An old rating I found in a notebook, on tap at the Warehouse. Poured a thick looking dark orange with a thin near white head. Aroma was full of sweet barley and a bit of raspberry. Flavor is quite sweet with a bit of an alcohol at the end and malty notes throughout.

Sweetish barleywine ale. Nothing special to look at, and a mild barleywine and malty aroma. A little grapey taste, a little hoppy, a nice one.

Dark orange beer with weak and white head. Aroma is weird but temptating and it reminds me from Fraoch Heather Alen, thus strongly berries, quite sweet and some alcohol. Flavour is simpler than aroma, malts, berries, pine needles, long and quite dry in the end. Very easy to drink and nicely slippery. Interesting, complex beer, that gives a lot for you.
