Commercial Description:
Translation from website: "A beer with a strong, and obvious sweetness. Drink it now, or why not save it a couple of years? It will only improve with time."

This classic hearty ale started out a gold medal winner in the Swedish Homebrewing Championships in 1993, and went on to win gold in the World Beer Cup in 2000. A little something to see you through the longest darkest night.

Copper color with no head. Strong alcohol aroma and just a little spice. Sweet barley flavor, but much more dusty and grainy than many barley wines. Some wheat and spice that’s closest to spearmint.

Bottle. Poured a deep golden body with thin head. Aroma is caramel, light citrus/pines, and perfume. Flavor is light caramel and hops, off vegatable flavors, light sugar and pineapple. Very sweet/tart flavor. Not bad but nothing to write home about.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is light to medium amber. Aroma is lightly malty (cookie), lightly hoppy (apricot), with light notes of peach and alcohol. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. A rather dull, simple rendition.

Bottle pours deep gold with copper core with nice white head and spotty lacing. The full aroma emits cherries, grapes and sweet apples along with tasty smelling roasted malts. The taste begins very mild and smooth for a barleywine with building dark fruity esters like stewed cherries, raisins, grapes and plums. A lightly roasted malt note seems to take hold of the flavor midway creating a pleasing sensation against the fruitiness. Into the finish the dark fruity esters grow to overtake the maltiness along with muted pine hop bitterness. Just a bit of alcohol warming is noticed as the after taste starts. This is very nice and smooth and drinkable. It could use six months to a year of age to flatten out the minor alcohol sensation. But it is very nice right now.

Dark, strawberry-blonde body without a head at all, pretty much. Not impressed with the tart, bitter aroma of berries and hints of malt. The flavor is slightly, and only slightly better than the aroma. It is a tad sweet, but it tastes like raspberries and blueberries and other indistinguishable berries. A small dash of spiciness. A strange, out-of-place butteriness creeps into the finish. For a barleywine, it is just OK.

Clear gold with a copper tint - minimal head - syrupy aroma, with some bright fruitiness, apparent alcohol, light honey - rather thin-bodied - flavor of british pale malts, medium sweetness, light berry and citrus - mild bitterness on the back end - all the flavors are rather indistinct, so much so that you almost forget the experience before you’ve even swallowed the beer - meh.

11.2oz bottle. Poured a medium and clear orange color with a larger sized off white head. Aromas of lots of oranges with some caramel, spices, and light alcohol. Tastes of citrus, caramel, light spices, strawberries, and sugary sweet. Medium alcohol burn.
