Commercial Description:
Translation from website: "A beer with a strong, and obvious sweetness. Drink it now, or why not save it a couple of years? It will only improve with time."

This classic hearty ale started out a gold medal winner in the Swedish Homebrewing Championships in 1993, and went on to win gold in the World Beer Cup in 2000. A little something to see you through the longest darkest night.

Appearance: Pours a clear, orange-amber body with a small white head. Smell: Aroma of honey and caramel and sherry-soaked orange peels. Taste: Caramel maltiness with plenty of honey-like sweetness. Dash of sherry. Mild bitterness blends into the lightly alcoholic finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Warming alcohol presence. Drinkability: It’s alright for a barleywine!

(Draught at Glenfiddich Warehouse No 68, Stockholm, 16 Dec 2007) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity nose with dried fruit, apricots, orange, Seville orange and generous amounts of slightly rubbery hops. Malty, fruity taste with notes of wild berries, dried fruit, honey, apricots and citrussy hops in the finish. Medium to full body, rather sweet. Powerful and warming beer. Very nice.

Pours a amber color with no head. Has hints of sweet fruits, caramel, and spice. Very thin on the palate. Finishes with a sugary boozy taste.

Bottle poured a clear golden amber with a minimal lingering ivory head. Aromas of candied fruit, carmel, some herbal notes and alcohol. Palate was medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of burnt carmel, light spice and light fruitiness with a crisp dry warming finish.
A fairly bland and boring example of a Barleywine.

Clear gold color with fain white head. Sweet malty nose. Very sweet body but with a surprisingly thin body, not at all syrupy. Alcohol bite on the finish.

Bottle. Clear maber colour with mostly diminishing white head. Aroma offers slightly sweet malt, cane sugar and alcohol. Flavor likewise but with additional hops. Average finish withdusty hops and alcohol.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a thin white head that disappears quickly. Not a lot of aroma - some dark fruits, sweet malts, apricot, no appreciable alcohol scent. Sweet malty taste with very little hop character in the back, but not so sweet as to suggest an English BW. Cleanly strong, but no real outstanding qualities.

even for a barley wine, this seems rather meek and mild tasting, despite its 9.5% alcohol. average malts that has a medium body. decent herbal hops.
