| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 17, 2007 Golden light amber in pour with not much head or lacing. Aroma of sweet malt liqour. Very thin body. Flavors of sugars and some slight dark fruit. michael-pollack (2693), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 12, 2007 33cl Bottle: Sweet aroma of alcohol, malts, and hops. Smells like a typical Barley Wine. Poured amber in color with no head. Clear. Not sparkling. Flavor is sweet. Tastes of malts, fruit, caramel, and hops. Light to medium body. Thin, oily texture. Soft carbonation. Sweet malt finish. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 11, 2007 Bottle: Clear dark gold with a thin head. Thick caramel toffee malt nose. Smells like I imagine liquid malt does. In the mouth toffees and caramels swirl, being cut through by a cooling bitterness. It’s nice enough but doesn’t have much standout character. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 5, 2007 I was surprised how thin this barley wine started, though it improved a fair amount on warming. Beer pours a slightly dark orange with a small/medium off white head. Nose is moderately sweet with considerable alcohol notes. Flavor also has a light sweetness, with alcohol notes. Overall, for a barley wine, this isn’t as good as I’d hoped. Even warmer, it’s still fairly thin in flavor. The nose is nice, but overall it’s not up to the standards of the style. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 5, 2007 Thanks to Eric for the taster--Poured a light copper-golden with a small white head that clung to the sides of the glass. Whiffs of caramel sticky hops and medium hops. Sweet and sticky but finished dull and uneventful. Oxidized cardboard flavor was evidence that this beer did not travel well. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 2, 2007 Pours a clear golden pour with very minimal head around just the edge of the glass. Nose of sweet sugary goodness. Little bit of light malt, fruit, slight caramel. Flavor-wise this beer is extremely sweet, reminds me of some of those JWLEE harvest ales, but surprisingly its not over-cloying. Goes down nice. Pretty nice. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 28, 2007 This pours a crystal clear amber body with a slender white head. The aroma has hot toffee & caramel, soft nuts, a suggestion of cherries, and a light mustiness. The palate is slightly oily and warm on the tongue. The flavor is a continuation of the sweet malts, pepper, plenty of alcohol, and a soft floral bitterness. This might age well. Not a bad drink for a cold damp evening whilst waiting for the furnace repairman.
