Commercial Description:
Translation from website: "A beer with a strong, and obvious sweetness. Drink it now, or why not save it a couple of years? It will only improve with time."

This classic hearty ale started out a gold medal winner in the Swedish Homebrewing Championships in 1993, and went on to win gold in the World Beer Cup in 2000. A little something to see you through the longest darkest night.

Dark orange beer with weak and white head. Aroma is weird but temptating and it reminds me from Fraoch Heather Alen, thus strongly berries, quite sweet and some alcohol. Flavour is simpler than aroma, malts, berries, pine needles, long and quite dry in the end. Very easy to drink and nicely slippery. Interesting, complex beer, that gives a lot for you.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a very small sized head of frothy clear colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a transparent very softly carbonated dark orange colored body and a poor lacing. The mild aroma was vinous and malt hop. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the off tasting finish. The weak flavor contained notes of mild hops cinnamon and mildly vinous. An OK brew just nothing special.

11.2oz bottle: appearance is a hazy amber brown with small white head, aroma of pale malt and hints of alcohol, flavor is somewhat weak for a barley wine pretty malty some notes of oranges and slightly hoppy. pretty decent beer but not worth the 6.60 price tag.

Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells of caramel, perfume, light fruit. Tastes of sweet malt, strawberries, honey, dry, earthy. Great malt presence.

12-JUN-2009. Bottle at Ulkløbben. Orange (!) with white head. Some malt, but actually more hops. Very sweet bordering on cloying. Creamy, high ABV, bitter, sweet. I love it - candy.

Bottle - Mondial de la Bière, Montréal. Limpid amber body with low carbonation and a fair white frothy head. Complex malty/hoppy aroma with barley, fruity, caramel and oaky hints. Taste hides the alcohol pretty well and carries flowery and vineous notes. Ends with a decent, warming bittersweet finish.

Bottle, Mondial 2009. Clear light amber, small head, short retention. Aroma is sweet piny hops. Taste is a bit watery and a bit disappointing compared to its aroma. Not a bad beer but just a bit light on taste. Carbonation is quite faint.
