Amber color with a small head, which almos dies.
Aroma is quite nice with notes of toffee, honey and malt.
Flavour is mostly sweet, a bit fruity (mostly dried fruits), notes of malt, toffee and honey.
Palate is good... but still a bit thin. This beer hides the 9,5% very well.
An okay barley wine, though it feels a bit "straggling". Hophead22 (1105), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA

A bit thin on the flavor, more like an old ale. Pretty decent. beerbuzzmontreal (2921), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 7, 2008 Clear golden pour with a thin white head. Average aroma of hops and caramel. Average flavor of hops and caramel, it seems quite simple. The body is light with a liquorous texture and moderate carbonation. A sub-par barley wine. sneagrams3 (1759), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 7, 2008 The Dan Journal #240. Tasted 8/26/08. 12oz bottle. Filtered with an orange golden hue. Ring of off-white head. Sticky malt nose with hints of honey and cocoa. Cedar and cinnamon. Full bodied with a sticky palate. Big citrus flavor that really hits the forefront. Vanilla sticky cloying finish. Estery fruity notes. Candy sugar. Decent. afireinside96 (839), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 28, 2008 Bottle served in a Duvel tulip. Amber-orange body topped by minimal head. Sweet sugary smell, some peach and pineapple is present but hidden. Flavor is very sweet and candy like, some fruitiness. Very little bitterness. Some alcoholic warmth, though not a ton. One dimensional but not terrible. bitbucket (2036), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Sep 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear golden orange with a thick off-white head. Aroma of oranges, toffee. Sweet, full body and moderate carbonation. The taste is initially a mouthful of cotton candy, but the figs and citrus make their way through. This beer has a very clean taste, but it seems to achieve that at the cost of being one-dimensional, and lacking in malt complexity compared to other examples of the style. If there was ever a barleywine that screamed "Drink me now," this is the one. If a bit more of the hops drop out, this will descend into the abyss of unbalanced sugary nothingness. Not so sweet you could think. Some hints of prunes in the nose. Tsted at Pikkulintu. fly (1333), austin, Tejas, USA

I have another to make sure I wasn’t just sleepy crazy, but I really liked this and recall trying to wish more out of the empty bottle.
