Commercial Description:
Translation from website: "A beer with a strong, and obvious sweetness. Drink it now, or why not save it a couple of years? It will only improve with time."

This classic hearty ale started out a gold medal winner in the Swedish Homebrewing Championships in 1993, and went on to win gold in the World Beer Cup in 2000. A little something to see you through the longest darkest night.

An amber beer with no head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of alcohol and oranges. The flavor is nice, it is sweet, fruity, and slightly acidic with notes of oranges. The palate is wonderful

(Bottle 33 cl) Vintage 2002. Pours an almost clear, amber golden with a tiny, off-white head. Soft aroma of overripe fruit. Very full-bodied and a very smooth mouthfeel - partially due to the low carbonation. Has very distinct, sweetish caramel accents, vanilla and again this typical overripe fruitiness. The finish is full of overripe fruit. This really has aged quite gracefully. 080507

Red-brown. Thick. Big maltiness. Complex, with very nice hop profile. This beer need some time to mature. When sampled fresh it is overly sweet, but after a year or so it has dried out and becomes a well balanced hop dominated barley wine.

50 cL bottle. Pours golden amber to deep orange, clear, with a diminishing light orange head. Deep barley and malty aroma, clear notes of alcohol and slight dried fruity. Flavour is soft malty with a dried corn/barley fruity note blending well in with the strong alcohol flavours. Ends slight warming and with the same persisting barley flavour. Soft mouthfeel and good balance.

Bottle. Clear dark amber color with a virtually none head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, alcoholic. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration good balance between malt sweetness and alcohol. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is flat, finish feel is light alcoholic.

Bottle. Green apple aroma. Golden colour, small head. Good body, slightly sirupy mouthfeel. Sweet flavour, honey? Finish is alcohol warming. 7 3 8 4 17

2002 bottle, 5 years old, 9.5%. From a distance the aroma is yeasty, but closer up there is quite a lot of caramellised sugar and some vinousness. The colour is clear chestnut with a little grey, or perhaps just dark copper. Almost no head. The flavour also has noticeable caramel, and some dried fruit, it is quite dusty and finishes with a hint of yeast. The alcohol is distinct, but never unpleasant, it tickles the back of my mouth. Very flavourful, yet never aggressive. The beer has a good body and the carbonation is quite soft and pleasant. 8 4 9 5 18

Bottled. A bit hazy golden colour with mediumsized white foamy head. Malt, hops and alcohol in aroma, which also has some honeyish notes. Malt, honey and alcohol in flavour. A bit sticky mouthfeel afterwards. Kind of sweetish aftertaste with hints of bread.

Amber colour with a low white head. Sweet aroma. Malty aroma with a bit sweetness, and some bitterness. Hasn’t enough sweetness to be a good barleywine, this beer is just plain and boring.
