Bottle. Clear. Deep orangey golden colour with a very small head. Aroma is more malty than hoppy with hints of fruit. Sweet maltiness, some offsetting bitterness and toffee towards the end. Good body for a lager. A good enough lager it is.

It seems like these nils oscar beers are having a big problem with head retention and texture. This, the 4th nils i’ve had.. has apauling retention, almost looks like a soft drink. Interesting sweet aroma, some saaz which is nice, but there is a lot of corn in there too. The flavour is so dominated by corn that it is hard to identify any other flavours as it carries through to the finish and also the aftertaste. There is also not too much bitterness to note. As far as lagers go its not too bad, but its a long way from the quality you expect (and pay for) from nils oscar.

330ml bottle. Pale golden topped with some lasting foam. Inviting hoppy aroma. The flavour contains citrus and honey sweetness. Bitter finish. Medium bodied. A well made lager (Sampled at a drinking session in Kiruna, Sweden 13.07.2006).
