Pours a thin, dark mahogony with an aroma of faint molasses plastic syrup and sweet cedar. Flavor is sparkling light chocolate with an earthy cinammon finish. Average mouthfeel. Not bad, but too light bodied for my taste. ilovedarkbeer (1365), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 17, 2008 Looks almost completely black in the glass with a yeasty light brown medium to large sized head. Nose is sour malt, some chocolate and roasted coffee. Really muted. Crazy mouthfeel, smooth and medium but tiny little bubbles caress the tongue like nothing I have ever felt. Taste is mild and roasted with some milk chocolate and more of the sour malt, kind of milky and creamy. I could chug a bucket of this. bleeng (598), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA

Black, no head, filtered and not quite opaque. Nose of burnt mallts and alcohol. Thin body is the first thing you notice, then the alcohol hits. After the initial alcohol flavors, the burnt malts, sweet tastes come out. Overall a good beer but not life changing. OD40oz (600), Box Elder, South Dakota, USA

This beer is freakinnear perfect. Dark with a light tan small quickly dissipating head. Smells like roasted malts and chocolate. Tastes sweet and smooth as silk like chocolate roasted hops and malts. Finish was chocolate. I would say this is equal to or better than Sam Smiths Oatmeal Stout. Good old Scandinavians, they know how to brew beer. If you could bottle sex with Swedish Supermodels.... this is how it would taste. cheeta (904), Langå, Denmark
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 29, 2008 Locorice and dark chocolate aroma. Large creamy light brown head. Excellent lacing. Mostly lasting longevity. Clear amber body. Heavy sweet flavor with a tast of dark chocolate, and a long finish duration. Medium to full palate Good creamy texture. drfabulous (1252), Columbia, Missouri, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 27, 2008 Tons of roast in the nose. Incredible roast in the taste. Coffee. Darkness. All the flavors an Imperial Stout requires. Very nice. Could use a bit more body. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Nov 21, 2008 3/18/2008: Nils Oscar Imperial Stout pours a clear, ruby/chocolate brown color with a thin, bubbly head. The aroma of coffee and chocolate is good, but not overly rich or deep. Black coffee, milk chocolate (lactose-like), and artificial sweetness are present in the flavor. There fruity notes in the middle and it finishes sweet and roasty with hints of char. No alcohol can be tasted. This beer is medium-bodied but seems really thin. It definitely needs some more heft to the body to match all of the dark, roasty flavors of the style!

| 0.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 1/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 1/20 | Nov 21, 2008 I must have gotten a bad bottle, based on other reviews of this beer. It was flat, lifeless, tasted like wood ash & burnt celery. Total drain pour.
Maybe I’ll rate it again, then again, maybe not.
