Commercial Description:
Nils Oscar Imperial Stout is brewed only in a limited edition. Also Nils Oscar Imperial Stout was awarded as the best beer in the world. This beer is brewed with many varieties of hops and malt, nothing saved to make the stout full of character. Imperial Stout is best enjoyed combined with the dessert but works wonderfully with oysters. The Nils Oscar Imperial Stout can be enjoyed today but preferably mature a couple of years.

Yeah, not quite an imperial stout, so the foreign stout distinction is apt - dark brown/ruby beer, with a small, soapy lace - interesting aroma of cocoa, vanilla bean, tobacco, and an earthy, almost briny character that reminds me of seaweed salad (I’m not crazy, I smell it damn you!) - it’s actually a wee bit nutty and salty up front, but this quickly makes way for chocolate sweetness, which itself is swiftly undercut by tobacco and leafy herb bitterness - lingering notes of hazelnut - a very mild background acidity - some very interesting earthy components to this one - just different enough to stand out - but I swear something about this reminds me of seaweed salad.

Bottle sampled with Mad_Indian. Pours black with ruby edges and a large tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, choclate, coffee. the flavor is roast, coffee, chocolate, slightly sweet, and a little thin in mouth feel. Good brew.

Pours a deep black with a hint of red and a thick tan head. Very nice roasted grain, chocolate malt, coffee, and some spicy hop aroma. Yummy. Medium body with lots of chocolate malt and roasted grains. Some hops are in there just top keep things from getting too sweet and chocolaty. As it warms, it becomes sweeter and fruitier. Very nice.

330 ml bottle, black cap. Pours jet black, light brown, rocky head. Aroma of roasted coffee beans, dark bittersweet chocolate, roasted oatmeal and barley, licorice, and maduro cigar. Very sweet malt flavor. Pleasant fruitiness. Lots of roast, grain, oat. All of these flavors are followed with a coffee roast bitterness. Some residual dark chocolate flavors, vanilla, and creamy caramel. Chewy texture. just like a piece of candy! Cheers...

Bottle purchased at Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Pours opaque with a small, light brown head, mostly lasting with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (chocolate, caramel, nutty), light hops (grass), heavy yeast (leather) with notes of toffee, brown sugar, and dates. Medium bodied, slick texture, average carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness. Flavors of cocoa and milk.

33cl - Thanks MrWalker - international trade in 2006 - Aroma of dark chocolate, burnt malts, tobacco, soy sauce and leather. Pours black with no head and good lacing. Flavor of burnt malts, chocolate, caramel, vanilla and tobacco. Palate is sticky and ashy. A very tasty foreign stout.
