Commercial Description:
Nils Oscar Imperial Stout is brewed only in a limited edition. Also Nils Oscar Imperial Stout was awarded as the best beer in the world. This beer is brewed with many varieties of hops and malt, nothing saved to make the stout full of character. Imperial Stout is best enjoyed combined with the dessert but works wonderfully with oysters. The Nils Oscar Imperial Stout can be enjoyed today but preferably mature a couple of years.

Courtesy of Nate. Pours a bubbly dark brown with a thin tan head. Dark, bittersweet chocolate aroma with molasses and bready notes, and a touch of a metallic twang. Rich, oily, and slick taste with coffee, molasses, chocolate, roasty, bittersweet, bready and cakey notes. A very good stout. Smooth, creamy, drinkable, and conveniently low alcohol.

How: Bottle, 11.2oz. A few times. Always consumed fresh a few years (!) before expiration date.
The look: Black body with a little tan ring of foam
In long: Quite a bit of bittersweet black chocolate, medium-high roastiness level, café mocha, roasted coffee beans, a little cheesy, not much in the way of fruity flavours except maybe some figs. Medium body, medium carbonation. After-taste is very reminiscent of the after-taste of eating a 70% cacao black chocolate bar. Loses a few points because of a light annoying soy sauce flavour. May not be the best imperial stout around but of all the Swedish Imperial Stout I’ve had this year, this was undoubtedly… well… the only one.

Sample from mr Goodbar Stout Tasting. Light aroma of Chocolate & roasted malts. Really had to search for it though. Pours a beautiful black with nice khaki head. Nice chocolate taste with mild roastiness. Medium body with longlasting chocolate flavor. Very nice stout

A cold pour produces a two finger head that slowly reduces to a silky canopy and a fluffy ring of lace. Rich aromas of cocoa and coffee bean. Medium nectar with ample residual effers. This brew is by far not the American version of the style. It’s more refined and balanced, thats not a bad thing is it Mr Dark Lord..he he he. The flavors are strong on chocolate and coffee yet mildly roasted. It’s a cafe mocha with only a mild touch of sweetness. Very enjoyable and very tastey, just not over the top. Theres a few barnyard flavor floating around in there aswell. The finish is bittered mildly. Overall: it’s a little thin but it has strong aromas and focused flavors.

Bottle. Pours a black colour with a tan head. On the nose I got soy sauce, liquorice and chocolate. Flavour is some chocolate sweetness and also both soy sauce and liquorice - giving the beer some saltiness. Also roasted malts and some hoppy falvours. The finish is quite dry and roasted with notes of soy sauce with a nice bitterness.

Bottle. Aromas of chocolate and dark malt. Opaque black color with a slight tan head. Full bodied with chewy carbonation. Flavor is smooth toasted malt, with some dark fruits and enough hop to balance the sweet. Rather smooth and light for an IS, but it is more than "just a stout". Finish is clean and refreshing. Just the thing for that polar dip. A really good drink, if not the over stuffed stouts that are typically IS.

Dark pour, very average brew. Chocolate and slight coffee. Malts, roast, and very very light hint of beef/maet. Didnt go down smooth, but was an overall descent drink.

Mahogany body with 1/8th inch khaki head. I viewed this beer, inhaled deeply, put the brew to my lips and took a sip. Where did the "Imperial" in the "Stout" go??? This was a weak interpretation. Just not seeing the 97%. It was a pretty good porter. Maybe I got one that was mislabeled!!!
