| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 27, 2007 330ml bottle from De Bierkoning beer shop, Amsterdam. A smooth and buttery strong dark ale with a firm bitterness in the finish. Pretty much what you would expect of a strong stout. Strong coffee aroma. Lacks character, individuality and interest, but it’s a decent enough beer. Despite the name, it’s a Foreign Stout, and people might find it rather lacking it they think of it as an Imperial. lordeche (397), Quincy, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 24, 2007 Pours black with thin head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and anise. Flavor is extremely smokey with a good amount of licorice to make this one a fairly unique Imperial Stout. Pretty light for the style, but not bad at all. ChainGangGuy (2590), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Appearance: Pours a dark brown body with mahogany-hued edges and a thin, wispy off-white head.
Smell: Aroma of roasted malt with complimentary notes of dark chocolate, black coffee, and licorice. Hint of mint.
Taste: Roasted maltiness with a brief, mild sweetness. Flavors of bittersweet chocolate, licorice, and coffee. Again, there’s that hint of mint. Roast-driven bitterness. The taste of dark caramel and a rebound of sweetness perk up near the finish. Spicy, roasty finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Mild carbonation. Pleasantly warming alcohol presence.
Drinkability: Well-rounded, flavorful and fairly decent overall for being on the lighter end of the style. BDR (2164), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

Nice, roasty, soft and medium bodied stout which is quite carbonated (for an imperial stout to be). I don’t think it would be unreasonable to suggest that one should age this stout for a couple of years, and thereby this promising beer will carry the title: Imperial more appropriately.
