33cl bottle. thanks to sunevdj for this one. pours dark brown with thin beige head around the rim. nose is roasty, and some coffee. flavor is mainly roasty, some chocolate, lactic, subtle burnt notes. thin body. why is this so highly rated?

330ml bottle (Porvoo Harvest/Dark Beer Festival 2007) jet black ruby tints. tan head. almost creamy burnt roast malts as the aroma. creamy burntness.very rich stout, serious, dense, but well balanced heavy stout.

Very classic and wellmade imp stout. Black but with a minimal fast disappearing brown head. Heavy malty nose of roasted malts and salty liquirice. Flavor is bitter from roasted malts and has notes of roasted coffee and english liquirice. Not too many supprises, just super solid.

Has all the makings of a good imperial stout, a complex aroma with bourbon wood (vanilla), roasted malt (espresso, ash), dark fruit, chocolate and liqourice, with a rounded & balanced taste and long-lasting finish. But it is TOO smooth, almost no carbonation and no rough edges. A very well-made beer, but too polished to really be spectacular.

25cl bottle from De Bierkoning. This is fantastically brewed beer, if I do say so myself. Aroma is huge and rich dark coffee, unprecedented complexity and volume for a 7% beer, and every bit as balanced and luxurious as one could possibly hope. A similarly large and profound taste backs it up, the coffee sitting backseat to pure dark chocolate, very dry but very drinkable. A masterfully done beer.

bottle bonus from Marsiblursi. Thank you kindly Maria and Andreas, this one seemed to scream out to me tonight so it moved in the direction of my belly. Nice to be a non scandanvian (and not kp) reviewing this beer. My bottle says 7% abv, and I’m honestly very intrigued by a high percentile low abv impy. Pours black with a generous 1 finger light brown puffy head. The nose is so roasty I’ll call it burnt malt, burnt malts with some burnt popcorn seeds. The taste is pretty front heavy lots of burnt malts, some light toffee and a bit of coffee and chocolate malts. Certainly a good impy but not as amazing as some would say. Its a little to thin for my liking, very drinkable but too heavy on the burnt flavors, in the words of Ralph Wiggum, "tastes like burning."

Black, small brown head. Very nice aroma, roasted malts, some blackcurrent, coffee and liquorice. Bitter flavour, obvious coffee notes, some hops even. Warming long lasting bitter finish. Bottle indicated 7% ABV, which is way less than i thought it was. Really nice brew.

Bottle. Opaque black and a thick frothy head to start with but faded a lot towards the end. Heavy roasted malts aroma with hints of coffee. Soft malty flavor with a surprisingly hoppy finish to be an imperial stout. Also some notes of chocolates and coffee in the taste. Not that heavy imperial stout but quite good.
