Bottle courtesy after4ever. Pours a nearly opaque black with a lacy tan head. Medium full body and moderate carbonation. Brown sugar and a bit of hops in the nose. The taste is lightly sweet, with coffee, caramel and bittersweet chocolate. Smoke and roasty finish.

330. Thanks, Maria! Wonderful stuff for sure. Pours deep dark inky opaque black with a thick, sudsy tan head. Plenty of chocolate on the nose. Roast there, too. These two elements get fairly repetitive in impy ratings, I realize, but there they are again. Nice oily body--not too much, but a definite slick and gooey presence to it for sure. Big roasty, coffee, and choclate-y mid-palate. Fairly tidy finish with some lightly bitter/coffee cling. Lovely.

2001. A very impressive parade from the glass reveals an oily, still well carbonated very dark brown body with chestnut and red hues. Just a touch of a tan head forms then quickly recedes, but it’s obviously adequately carbonated and very lively despite its advanced age. The aroma of dark fruits and aged malts is evident as soon as the bottle is opened. Present are notes of wonderful smoke that seems to ride forward in waves atop copious roasted grains. The combination of smokey and roasty grains create a meaty, beefy even, sensation. Dark fruits such as plums, prunes and raisins meld with anise and earthy vines. Caramel is present but reserved. Alcohol is almost unnoticeable. Chocolate notes, both bittersweet and dark and dry round out a stunning aroma, in just as good of shape as the appearance of the body. I still have yet to taste a beer from this brewery and I’m wildly impressed already. The flavor is moderately smokey, moderately sweet, still very complex and has just hints of drying alcoholic bitterness. Sweetness from caramel flavors is fresh and riddled with spicy nuances. The mouthfeel has definitely taken a hit from the long slumber and thinned some, but is very smooth, complicated and just plain fun to drink. Carbonation is mild but spritzy and gives the flavor an upbeat tempo. The finish is a soft blend of caramel, chocolate and smoke, all lingering in unison and fading ever so softly away. An incredibly solid beer. Definitely on the small side for an imperial stout but a truly enjoyable beer. I had a great time sampling this and will certainly seek it out again.

Bottle.Dark black body with creamy fast disapearing brownish head. Smells of dark chocolat. Tasts roasted, sweet, coffee and little salty and smokey. Gets more breadier in the middle, like a dark syrup bread with raisins and aniseroots. Palate is thick and syrupy and real crispy. Got som particles in my mouth from the first sip, really cool.

[Bottle, 7% version] Very dark, head is dark tan, although there is not much of it and what there is disappears quite quickly. Nice aroma. Strong coffee taste mixed with hops. Somewhat thin. Taste lingers nicely. Solid beer.

Bottle. Pours a very deep dark brown almost black colour. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, roasted coffee and liquorice. The flavour is smooth and creamy with good dark chocolate, liquorice, roasted malt and coffee and raisins. The finish is roasty and bitter. Great brew indeed!

Bottle (1 year old) at home - shared with Mette. Almost black - light brown head. Aroma: Licorice, lots of licorice, ryebread, dried fruits. Taste: Licorice again, berries, ryebread, high hoppy, grass, light fruity, burned, dry burned, light sweetness, dreid dark fruits. Light throat-burning finish !!

Clear dark brown color, short brown head. Delicious strong aroma of black chocolat, some coffee and roasted malt, some hop and laurel. Creamy body. Bit alcoholic taste (7% version?), chocolat, roasted malt, quite sweet.
