| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 28, 2007 Thin tan head that faded quickly. Dark brown body. Faint aromas of chocolate and roast, lightly earthy with some medicinal notes. Body is light, thin, lightly creamy. Light roast, chocolate and an unfortunate amount of bandaid flavor also. Lightly smokey and earthy. Dry, thin finish. I do believe this puppy has seen better days. Over aged i guess? A wimpy Impy.. Thanks to Robert @ state line for this one. eaglefan538 (2399), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 20, 2007 Updated: May 23, 2009Re-rate, May 09, bottle about a year old: Not nearly as smokey as my first review reads, some roast, but some serious chocolate going on. Flavor was better than the prior write-up, but the oxidized/metallic type notes were absoultely still present along with some acidity. Very faint vinous notes in the background, some hops in the finish. Original rating: Bottle, courtesy of Robert at a long vertical and horizontal run of excellent imperial stouts @ statelineliquors.com. Poured a deep brownish color, not quite black as black. The aroma was chocolate with some smoked notes. The flavor was smoked (almost peaty) chocolate, bandaids (not a good thing either), dust, cobwebs, and almost an oxidized or metallic flavor. Mouthfeel was thin. Noting the abv on the bottle after tasting, at 7%, this surely isn’t a surprise to lage behind the other fine Imperial Stout concoctions of the night. Nevertheless, thanks to Robert for this opportunity! Cletus (5058), Connecticut, USA

Great flavor, classic brwon head, warm interesting nose, and long finish. How do they compress such flavors in such a fine beer.... nice.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 31, 2007 330 ml bottle. Pitch black colour. Nice medium-sized tall beige head, but it falls down eventually. Aroma is roasted with a distinct licorice edge. Very bitter on the tongue. Balanced with strong roasted malt flavours and a little sweetness. Though, this is a dry beer. Nicely balanced. Surprisingly high complexity for such weak imperial stout. ekstedt (2446), Göteborg, Sweden

Dark brown with a red hue, opaque, with a small beige head. Roasted aroma with milk chocolate, burnt sugar, and manure. Well balanced, but very much overrated. Brix (373), Denmark
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 20, 2007 Tasted 2007-03-18. Bottle from 2006, 33cl. Black with disappearing brown head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt and smoke. Taste of ditto. It’s a good beer, but the smoke is a little too much for me!
