Commercial Description:
Nils Oscar Imperial Stout is brewed only in a limited edition. Also Nils Oscar Imperial Stout was awarded as the best beer in the world. This beer is brewed with many varieties of hops and malt, nothing saved to make the stout full of character. Imperial Stout is best enjoyed combined with the dessert but works wonderfully with oysters. The Nils Oscar Imperial Stout can be enjoyed today but preferably mature a couple of years.

Dark brown color, medium-size tanned head. Aroma is sweet, of olives, smoked, wooden, fruity, flowery and a bit alcoholic. Flavor is sweet, of nutmeg, burnt sugar, smockey and a bit salty. Light bodied, dry finish.

Thanks to <a href=http://ratebeer.com/View-User-2778.htm> Omhper for this one!.

Aroma of roasted caramel malts, coffee, rye, raisins, prunes and some vanilla. Really good aroma. Clear, dark brown coloured with a thin, beige head. Taste is sweet and more bitter towards the finish. Finish is somewhat hoppy, dry and sparkling. Roasted, dark malts, coffee, sugar, rye and prunes. Nice brew, but balance could be better.

7.0% ABV Pours a very dark almost black color. Head is small, tan colored and effervescent. It diminishes quickly and leaves a diminute lacing. Aroma is very malty, full of dark fruits like plums, prunes, raisins and layers of molasses and licorice. Some coffe and roasted cereal notes get really clear after some agitation. I need an incense with this smell. Flavor is strong, bold, intense as an Imperial Stout should be. Big bittersweet character, consequent with the aroma. Plums, raisins, prunes, dates and sweet chocolate. A nice backup of licorice and brown sugar to give some more sweetness. Nice. Body is medium...this is a letdown. Oily texture, low carbonation. The finish is well alcoholic but nice. Good long aftertaste. A nice Imperial Stout that needs more body.

Many thanks to <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/View-User-2778.htm> for this bottle.

bottle hand carried from Sweden by my dear wife. Pours near black or humus -brown with a light brown head. Resinous with roasted malt and walnuts, mocha fudge and hazelnut truffles (the dark chocolate kind). A bit of burn that is covered by creaminess. Bitter but not so much that it loses the malt. Clean finisher - I like that in an IS.

(Bottle) Pours dark to black with red hints. Roasted to smokey malt aroma with liquorice and dark, nutty bread. Undertones of chocolate, fudge, burned coffee, syrup, polish and tiny hints of fruits and hops. Soft, smooth mouthfeel. Roasted , salty flavour with coffee, liquorice and some chocolate. Small undertones of fruits and hops. Some bitterness. Medium body. A nice "light" Impy.

Deep red black, thin beige head and moderate condition. Intensly rich chocolate aroma. Good sweet malt, liquorice and coffee in the mouth and a nicely judged blend of coffee bitterness and chocolate sweetness in the finish.

Bottle - January 2007. Thanks Omhper for sharing! Black with some ruby hues. Medium to small tan head, retention needs to be improved. Aroma is penetrating fruit, plums, vanilla, rum, very nice. Taste is fruity, slightly acrid, some bitter chocolate, a bit of tobacco and some dark sugar. A hint of earthy hops and rocherfort cheese as it warms. Mouthfeel is medium, a bit drier than most imperial stouts. A nice, warming pint. Enjoyable.

0,33 l bottle. Almost black with small tan head. Sweetish, malty, roasted and vinous aroma with salty licorice, coffee, dark fruits, juniper, toffee and some charcoal. The same elements continue in the flavor with dryer charcoal finish. Some caramel and just right bitterness. Excellent!
