Commercial Description:
Nils Oscar Imperial Stout is brewed only in a limited edition. Also Nils Oscar Imperial Stout was awarded as the best beer in the world. This beer is brewed with many varieties of hops and malt, nothing saved to make the stout full of character. Imperial Stout is best enjoyed combined with the dessert but works wonderfully with oysters. The Nils Oscar Imperial Stout can be enjoyed today but preferably mature a couple of years.

33 cl bottle. Black colour with a fantastic creamy head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee and roasted barley. Very smooth aroma. Great flavour of smooth complexity blend with roasted barley. Overall a wonderful and great stout. I have made blindtestes with this and many others imperiel stout several times, conclusion :This is diffently one of the best.

Draught, at Bishop Arms. More smooth. Bottle, at No. 5. Dark brown with brown head, amostly disappearing, no lacings. Aroma heavy malty (licorce, dark fruit) and light hoppy. Flavor light sweet, moderate bitter, long duration. Medium body, oily, flat carbonated. 6-2-7-4-14/3,3.

Bottled. 7.0% ABV Brownish thick black. Small brown head. Coffeish, caramelly roastmalty aroma with notes of dried fruits. Roastmalty, bitterchocolatey taste with a medicine-bitter, peppery finish. Hints of smoke and liquorice. Not quite fullbodied, rather a bit thin for the style. Although this is a perfectly fine example of the style, I notice that my initial love affair with this style has faded and that the Stone Imperial Stout, which I loved, is rather an exception to the norm. Bottle, courtesy of MrWalker. Thanks!

33 cl bottle. Nice tan head. Aroma is complex and dominated by licorice - like those soft Finnish licorices. Flavor is extremely balanced with sugary sweetness leading to more licorice. Watery mouth feel. Finishes with some warming alcohol, which is surprising, considering the low ABV.

Very, very black liquid. Some candy sweetness and alcohol in the aroma, lots of malty grain and a slight trace of espresso. Not much is going on in the flavour department aside from a gentle chocolatey sweetness. A light-hitting, drinkable stout.

Tonight I toast Ompher. You assuredly have a place in Valhalla! (In other words, thanks for this great brew!) Opaque, tar colored with a small tan head (nice lacing too). Fudge bubblegum aroma, a chocolate milkshake more juiced than Jose Canseco. A creamy Cappuccino front with a spicy black peppercorn middle, a sweet cocoa finish and to cover the bases, a slightly bitter finish. Like an E- ticket ride at Disneyland, this beer takes you through all sorts of twists and turns! I’m admittedly rather a novice with Impy Stouts but this is a style I have come to love!

Nearly black with a light brown creamy head. Nice espresso aroma with dark chocolade and honeydew melon marmelade. Heavy taste of chocolade in the begining fading to coffe and charamel. This is a beer perfect to the evening in front of the fireplace in combination with chocolade or cheese.

Bottle. Black colour. Small, dark brown head. Roasted coffee aroma. Slightly creamy mouthfeel. Coffee flavour. Semi-sweet, a little chocolate. 7 4 8 4 17

2003 bottle, 4 years old, 7.0%. Creamy aroma with a little liquorice. Black colour, small light brown head. The flavour is good, quite distinct liquorice, ending with a little salty sweetness. There is also a little paper, but nothing unpleasant. The aftertaste is very late and has some fresh-ground coffee and a little barley bitterness as well as a little more paper. Good mouthfeel and pleasant carbonation. I think it has peaked for me at 4 years. 7 4 8 4 16
