Commercial Description:

A very mediocre ipa, and there is no excuse for that for such an expensive beer. English hop character. Bitter and a lack of sweetness, which means this is all about the hops with light malt. Thin to medium palate, and no complexity. Only mild hop bitterness.

Copper color with no head. Earthy and Noble hop aroma. Very dry body with a strong, earthy bitterness. Dry malt. Very much an English-style IPA, and a good one at that.

Sampled via 11-oz bottle at joebrew’s weekly beer tasting at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, Minnesota. Pours a clear amber brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and white ring. Aroma of citrus and caramel malt, with a touch of pineapple. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of sweet citrus zest, a touch of multi-grain biscuits, and roasted nuts. Finish is simply bitter and grapefruity character that lingers after the finish.

Bottled as Nils Oscar India Pale Ale. Pours a nice copper color. Off-white head with minimal lacing. Aroma of orange, pineapple and perfume. Flavor of pineapple, apples and biscuity malt. Medium body with some residual sweetness. A decent Swedish interpretation of an American IPA.

Pours gold into a shaker. White head recedes to hug rim. Citrus aromas. Dry with citrus and resin upfront. Very light and not too sweet with a lasting pine finish.

Wow, cool bottle from slob! Nutty cashew hop nose with notes of peanut, bread crust and cedar wood, mixed in with a bit of honey and fruit. Nutty flavor, with an almost bell pepper vegetable flavor over the middle. Mellow but still a bit bitter, clean overall, but the nuttiness isn’t the best thing to present in an IPA. Not bad overall, though.
