Bottled. Dark amberish brown colour with mediumsized beige head. Nice plummy sweet aroma, with hints of spices and alcohol. Plum, raisins and spices in flavour. Very pleasant brew with a long sweetish aftertaste. Tnx to omhper for good trade.

Bottled vintage 2001
Dark ruby color, good creamy, brownish head. Chocolaty, toffeeish barley nose, you can notice "vintage aroma" here - barley and sweetness have mixed togerther nicely. Medium-bodied. Sweet, smooth, caramelly with milk chocolate flavors. Ageing has rounded all the corners.

Unclear deep amber colored with a disappearing head. Aroma is sirupy and a bit sticky with notes of malt, plum, raisin and brown sugar. Flavor is rather malty with notes of caramel and plum. Mostly sweet with chocolaty hints and a bit of spices. Sparkling. A pleasant and well cellared beer (I tasted it 3 years old). Thanks a lot Alex for the trade!

Bottled. RBESG -05. Hazy copper colour. Light tan head. Smooth malt nose. Chocolatey and toffee notes in flavour, and all in all very smooth.

Pours hazy dark brown, no head really. Sweet, brown sugar nose with some hints of almond and toffee. Great, sweet, sugary flavour with some caramel notes. Slight sticky mouthfeel. Long aftertaste.

Bottled @ RBESG 2005 - Vintage 2001: Dark brown coloured. Off white small head. Sweet marzipany and smooth aroma. Flavour of some fruit, sweetness and a light portwinish touch. Is smooth as well. Ends on a nice fruity note. Good one.

(Bottle 50 cl) Vintage 2001: Chestnut coloured, not much head. Very malty and sweet. Pronounced madeirazation has made this slightly flat. But lots of dried fruits like figs, dates and raisins in the flavour. 291204 Vintage 2002: I had this the same night as the 2001. A bit more carbonized and slightly bitter - perhaps because it’s a year younger. Otherwise pretty much the same flavors are predominant. 291204

Sampled with omhper, tiggmtl, MartinT, muzzlehatch, and Rastacouere in Montreal. 2001 bottle thanks to Per. Sweet, sugary caramel maltiness in the nose with hints of mint. Rather sweet smelling. Ruby/garnet color with a small quickly dissipating off-white head. Quite carbonated, mildly astringent to start. Sweet, sugary malts of caramel hit you soon. Continues sweet throughout. Rather one-dimensional and overly sweet for me.
