Sweet marzipan, nutty, malty, fruity aroma that draws you in completely. Burnished copper coloured body with small, off-white head that recedes to ring. Nutty marzipan flavour has notes of brown sugar and maple syrup. Medium body feels somewhat light and simple. Perhaps a bit past it’s prime. Bottle enjoyed with DYCSoccer17, MartinT, muzzlehatch, Omhper and Rastacouere.

omhper in Montreal #23 (with MartinT,tiggmtl,Rastacouere,DYCSoccer). Small bottle, courtesy of Per. Dark bronze, fairly clear...sweet cherries and orangepeel dominate the earthy nose...a bit of smoke and oakiness appear late and work their way into the body, which is slightly watery, maply and citrusy...interesting but not totally successful.

Rather clear dark earthy copper, no head. Vinous malt aroma with lots of candi sugar, brown sugar and a rhubarb like acidity. Obvious candi sugar in mouth evolves into powdery rope and vanilla flavors to finish a bit astringent. Not as malty as I thought from the nose. It’s fairly good, but past its peak I assume. Expanding texture, a bit thin, moderately bubbly. Thanks Per!

(3 years old) : Sweet fruit candy and caramel pierced by big bubbles...Pleasant heavy malts are slightly earthy yet somewhat flat...The sweetness of the malt doesn’t carry through though and the finish is short...Perhaps going downhill from here in its aging process?...Thanks Per!!...

This scotch ale pours with a deep red body topped by a thin head with some lacing. The aroma is sweet and amlty and full of candy sugar notes with some caramel. The flavor is sweet and malty with candy sugar notes and a little bitterness. Full bodied and smooth.

Vintage 2001. Dark amber color. Great malty aroma with toffee and some butter along with hioppy notes. The flavor is malty, with sweet fruity and nutty notes. Turns into a very pleasant mild finish. Also the typical hops for the Nils Oscar Brewey was there. Very good and I think time has been good for this one.

[Vintage 2002] An amber beer with a fine though fast disappearing head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, prunes, mold, and smoke. The flavor is dominated by nice smoke but also sweet malty with notes of caramel. It finishes with hints of sourness. It has a good body. I really like this beer. Thanks to Per (Omhper) for trading me this beer - and thanks to Jacob Lövenlund and MartinKubert for sharing it with me.
