Muddy dark amber (nearly brown). Sherry-like aroma with plums and a touch of yeast. Very full mouthfeel. Flavours of plums, raisins and pine.

Bottle at RBESG 2006. Fruity and clean, quite sweet. Pleasant taste overall, but a bit ephemeral.

500 ml bottle, via rickgordon, consumed Oct 2006. Pours a clear deep garnet colored body under a small tight bubbled film of beige head. A good amount of visible carbonation. Aroma is fairly subdued, alot of fruitiness and some Belgian yeast mostly. Some moderate oxidation creeping in as well. Flavor has a bit too much oxidation for this beer to be really enjoyable. Still fruity and yeasty up front with some candi sugar, but the finish fades to a little sherry and a good bit of wet cardboard. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a lightly syrupy texture and moderate fizzy carbonation. Overall, I just didn’t think that this had the gravity to stand up to the extended aging. I very much enjoy oxidation flavors in Barley Wines and Old Ales, but they seem a little out of place in a Belgian Ale to me. It was still OK overall, but not great.

Bottled. Very dark ruby red colour, mediumsized beige head. Spicces along with malts in the aroma. Flavour is spices, malts, plum and some spices. Aftertaste is mainly plummy and spicy. A bit watery palate, otherwise very good.

(Bottle 50 cl) New recipe compared to the 2001 and 2002 vintages, but still a very nice beer. Fuggles have been substituted with Saaz and som rye-malt has been added. 291204
