Bottle The colour is brown and the two-finger (slowly dissolving) foam is beige.

The smell is very fresh, but somewhat weak. There are notes of sweetness, some burned malt and spices (barbecue style).

The carbonation is fresh and powerful.

The taste is dry with lots of malt and some supplemental (sourish) bitter hops; there are notes of dark rum and dark bread. The body is generous and the taste is overall very balanced and well crafted: A pleasant drink. Aftertaste is fresh, a little sour/bitter and it is also well balanced.

This must be one of the most easy-to-drink 7% abv I did ever came across. Dangerous stuff!

Hazy dark amber color; poor head. Malty aroma, with caramel; a bit woody and sour, very light spices (nutmeg?). Malty taste, a bit dry or not yet fully mature, in which the caramel dominates, with a hint of liquorice and smoked malt; not really complex. Long final, bold bitterness.

Sampled from draught at Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival 2004 (#13).
Clear dark amber colored with a thin off-white head. Roasted malt, spices, grass and hints of hop in the aroma. Spicy and malty flavor. Nutmeg, pepper and hop notes. Fruity and tasty and medium bodied.

(Draught) Dark reddish brown color with a small head. Sightly sweet, very malty and full, very balanced aroma. Quite hoppy, very malty, somewhat spicy and scotch ale -like flavor. Medium to full-bodied, slightly sugary, soft-carbonated palate. A very nice, sweetish and tasty ale with spiciness.

Sampled with omhper, tiggmtl, MartinT, muzzlehatch, and Rastacouere in Montreal. Thanks to Per for this bottle. Aroma is malty, sweet and somewhat sugary with some smoked malts in there. Ruby mahogany color thats transparent. Sweet, roasty chocolate malts. Sugary with roastiness in there as well.

Some DMS (peasoup) in the grainy aroma. Fair underlying malt. Clear, brown coloured body with off-white head that recedes to thin ring. Sweet malts are fighting a losing battle with the pea soup. Comfortable mouthfeel if simple. Bottle sampled with DYCSoccer17, MartinT, muzzlehatch, Omhper and Rastacouere.

omhper in Montreal #24 (with MartinT,tiggmtl,Rastacouere,DYCSoccer). Coppery-clear-orange color...very much like the 2001 overall, citrusy and maply, earthy and sweet...this seems more alcoholic and dry, less complex than the ’01...nothing all that great, though well made; thanks Per!

Reddish brown body covered by a light off-white crown. Malty, yeasty nose reminds me of a grain salad though it is also pretty earthy. Apples and grapefruit undertones, low hop level. It feels pretty simple on the palate, malt feels light, it’s mostly earthy and vegetal. Light bodied, a bit flat, doesn’t feel complete. Thanks Per!
