Nose is swet caramel, lots of sugar, and some light malt notes. Palate is smooth with some light hints of sugar. Flavor is more of the sugar and caramel notes with lots of sweetness and sweet malt. Large, very well retained head is foamy, buttercream colored and laces somewhat. Clear ruby-auburn body is unfiltered and amazingly experimental for a lager. Flavor is underattenuated and very caramel-malted. Sweet, sticky and decadent, I was expecting a Marzen and got this Swedish/German strong ale. So in summary I’m going to give it a 2.8 default and message omhper for advice on this one. oh6gdx (9104), Vasa, Finland
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 15, 2006 Bottled. At first lots of cinnamon in aroma. After a while in the glass it ruens more hoppy and caramellish. Flavour is sweet, spiced malts and also some hops in finish. Quite pleasant mix, and also wellbalanced between sweet and sour. Spices dominate the aftertaste, which otherwise is sweet malty and spicy. Well done, as most other Nils Oscars. TBone (6850), Pori, Finland

Amber color, decent tan head. Nice hoppy aroma, American hops? Malty, slightly roasted. Hops in the finish and aftertaste. Extremely well-balanced beer, tasty too. stouby (1955), Holbaek, Denmark

Light orange with a beige head, mostly diminishing, no lacings. Aroma moderate malty (caramel) and hoppy. Flavor moderate sweet and bitter. Light to medium body, oily, soft carbonated. gnoff (3574), Göteborg, Sweden

To be honest I didn’t think this one was very special compared to the regular "Kalasöl". Maybe they just put a new label on for Christmas? Sure it’s still a good, perhaps even great, beer, but shouldn’t be called a Christmas beer by my standards. 7/3/7/3/13=3.3
Second rating. (33 cl bottle) Sour and hoppy scent, some stables with horse droppings, citrus. Copper color, tan head. Skunky bitter old papery cardboard taste. Dry and oxidized. A bit hin mouthfeel. Some citrus hoppy taste. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 6, 2006 Bottle. Not much head. Amber colored. Caramel and malty taste. Also a bit of cinnamon taste in there. The palate a little to thin for my taste. But all in all a nice beer. pivo (2537), Germany
