Commercial Description:
This beer has its orgin in the Bavarian beer type ’festbier’ or ’oktoberfestbier’. Like ’festbier’ and ’vienna style beer’, Nils Oscar Kalasöl is of a somewhat darker type. The Nils Oscar Kalasöl is produced with both münchenermalt, dark caramelmalt, chocolatmalt and some roasted barley. The choice of hops is a mix of four kinds where the most characteristic are brittish fuggles, american cascade and czech saaz.
Kalasöl is a rounded beer with a mildly roasted breadish character. It can be recommended together with heavy foods, like joints of roast meat, spicy stews, broiled meat and fowl.

Toasty, crisp - some nuttiness. Some notes of rye in the finish, though very subtle. This was probably the best of the 4 Nils Oscar beers we tried tonight (IPA, Imp. Stout, Bwine and this).

Bottle 0.5 l. Bought Superbrugsen Ulleroed. Colour clear dark amber with small beige head. Aroma different hops and malt. Taste perfectly bitter obtained by a mixture of Fuggles, cascade and Saaz hops contrasted with the sweetness from the malts - especially the caramel is dominant. What a vienna!

From Julio’s Liqour in Mass. Pours with an amber body topped by a thin to medium thick, off-white head with some lacing. It’s slightly sweet and bready with a nice underlying grass and grapefruit hoppiness. Medium bodied and smooth yet dry.

330ml bottle (Olutkellari, Helsinki)
Sweet malty aroma, some ginger, some wet sheep. Lively palate, not fizzy as such. Quite full flavoured. Strongly hoppy and pretty malty too, quite well balanced, nutty in places. Long malty and nutty finish.

11.2oz bottle. Pours a coppery dark amber with a firm off-white head. Aroma is sweet and malty, with scents of syrupy hops, caramel, roasted malt, and floral notes. Taste is light and crisp, with a flavor of caramel, dark fruit, and syrupy hops giving way to a dry finish of roasted malt. Light but full-flavored -- delicious brew.

Bright copper color with a moderate fluffy beige head. Earthy caramel and lightly toasted malt aromas. HInts of floral/herbal hops. Crisp and clean form the start. With Light caramel, light herbal hops and a hint light fruit. Fell is just right for style with light and not quite zippy lift. A dry lightly nutty finish and linger.
