Commercial Description:
This beer has its orgin in the Bavarian beer type ’festbier’ or ’oktoberfestbier’. Like ’festbier’ and ’vienna style beer’, Nils Oscar Kalasöl is of a somewhat darker type. The Nils Oscar Kalasöl is produced with both münchenermalt, dark caramelmalt, chocolatmalt and some roasted barley. The choice of hops is a mix of four kinds where the most characteristic are brittish fuggles, american cascade and czech saaz.
Kalasöl is a rounded beer with a mildly roasted breadish character. It can be recommended together with heavy foods, like joints of roast meat, spicy stews, broiled meat and fowl.

Bottle courtesy of bu11zeye. Clouded orange. Big earth tones. Sweet like a Belgian strong. Dry bitter taste. Easy but edges out bitter.

Mondial 2009. Thought I coudlnt get this in the US, but now I realize I can- and I probably will. Shit is good!!!! Pours a nice deep coppery almsot amber with a nice lasting beige head. Aroma is nutty good toasted malts, toffee, and fresh baked bread with hints of burnt edges. Flavor is lightly hoppsy- herbal and slightly spicy, tons of bready biscuit malts, light toffee, and good fresh munichand hints of light burn and fresh herbal and floral hops. Finsih is a lsight bit mineral and good clean bitterness- smooth. Great Vienna.

Bottle shared with MrBunn. Strange aroma of Deep Woods Off and citronella...pours a light amber with moderate head. Taste is peculiar with an indistinguishable funk lightly rounded out by a bit of nuttiness..Light bitterness in the finish. Odd.
