| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 2, 2009 Bottle. It pours a really dark brown body, topped by a small, tan head. Smoked nose with hints of vanilla. Burnt and slightly roasted too. The flavor is nice, but maybe a bit one-tracked, with smoke, burnt and roasted malts. Full-bodied and dry. Lasting finish with smoke, burnt and roasted malts. A nice porter, balancing on the edge of too much, and to be honest, I like them sweeter and hoppier. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 19, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a small fizzy head that faded pretty quickly. The nose has a nice balance between the smoke and chocolaty roastiness. Lightly campfire like. More roast than smoke on the flavor, but it does come out a bit more on the finish. Some chocolate, coffee, and light leafy hops. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, a bit watery in texture with slightly too active carbonation. Overall, not bad, but not quite enough smoke to be a favorite. Decent Porter though. mjs (1500), Helsinki, Finland
