Sep 24, 2008 <i> <b> Had this sat outside the camper, Absalon Campsite, Copenhagen, 11-09-08 </i> </b> Nicely dry and without much smokiness that I was able to detect. Dark brown in colour really quite roasty, decent choccyness, will try another of my bottles at home.

Aug 29, 2008 500 ml bottle. Dark reddish brown body with a beige head. Aroma is slightly roasted malt with lots of smoke and tar. Flavor is roasted malt, some caramel, hops and a powerful smoked whisky flavor with peat and a hint of liquorices. This beer is not to heavy whiskey flavored and actually quite nice and easy to drink. I like the Bamberg flavor a bit better with this darker malty beer than the smoked lager version. Very pleasant.

Aug 16, 2008 RBESG08 Grand Tasting (thanks Per!). As I wrote elsewhere: this is no Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier — the smoke here is much more understated, closer to the version (or versions) from Spezial. It’s deep ruby with a nice sandy head and a nose of malt, oats and honey. After a semi-sweet gulp on the tongue, there’s an aromatic, Montecristo-peppery smokiness. The finish is lasting but not overbearing. Very nice!

Aug 9, 2008 (6/29/08) Bottle sample at RBESG08 grand tasting in Plzen. 2007 bottle. Very dark amber color. Aroma of smoked sausage. Sweetish smoky flavor with roasted malt and some coffee. Medium to full-bodied.

Jul 30, 2008 Bottled @ RBESG Grand Tasting 2008. A bit hazy and deep amber coloured with a medium sized head. Nice and smokey and really well balanced. Easy drinkeable without getting anonymous.

Poured a murky red brown body. Very smokey nose, pancetta. Same continues into the taste... smoke, pancetta, some roast. Great smoke character.

Jul 13, 2008 Bottle @ the RBESG08 Grand Tasting.
Pours deep mahogany with a small, creamy, off-white film head. Aroma is sweet, quite a lot of smoke and medium roasted. Okay mouthfeel, perhaps a touch on the thin side. Flavour is soft, some chocolate, well roasted with lots of smoke. Just a bit too much smoke with too little mouthfeel.
