Aug 28, 2009 Bottle. Pours black with a small tan head. Powdery cocoa, chocolate and coffee dominate the fairly sweet aroma, with notes of mildly peaty smoke, vanilla, nuts and toffee. Very nice. Flavour is nice and full, the smoke is more prevalent. Roasted and burnt notes, ash, powdery bitter chocolate and coffee, some light hops in the finish. The smoke is very well balanced, not dominating. Overall a complex and very enjoyable brew.

Aug 27, 2009 500 ml bottle. Black color, tan head. Chocolaty aroma with smoky notes. Fairly dry flavor with dark chocolate, coffee and smoke. Full body, light carbonation. Nice.

Aug 25, 2009 Pours a very dark garnet color with minimal clarity and a head which is moderately full, pillowy, and tan; it lasts for some time time before leaving a very small froth but minimal lace. Nose is pleasantly smoky but smoky nonetheless; the smoke is sweet and definitely burned beechwood, light toffee, light chocolate, ash, and hints at smoked sausage. Flavor is similar but the sweetness is a bit more subdued; burned wood, roasted grains, light notes of dark chocolate, ashy smoke. Palate is light to medium, nearly lively, dry, and somewhat silky. Finishes dry, roasty, grainy, smoky, and some light, leafy hop notes. Actually a fairly subtle smoke but still smoke-dominate. Smoked are not my favorite beers but this is actually quite drinkable.

Aug 21, 2009 Smoked Porter. 500ml bottle. Dark pour of reddish-brown, light tan head. Pleasant smoke aroma. Sweet smoke (candied smoke, is that possible?) Sweet toffee, still burning charcoal, smoke, ash, chocolate, and a hint of roasted grains. Light medium bodied. Very well balanced. Lots of fun. Smoke is not very overpowering in this bottle, which is nice. Smoke is the dominate character thought.

Quite black, brown layered head.
Chocolate, smoke, roast good aromatic hop wallop.
Medium sparkly body.
Hoppy aftertaste. A bit roast and smoke retronasal

Aug 9, 2009 Thick, dark pour with a nice foamy head. Thick roasty chocolate and malty aroma. Silky, creamy beer with a chocolate taste and a smooth finish. This was damn good. I didn’t really taste any smoke in this one.

Aug 2, 2009 500 ml bottle from Systembolaget, thanks to Ole R. ABV is 5.9%. Black colour, big to moderate tan head. Intense aroma of smoked and roasted malts, notes of bonfires and tar. The flavour is also roasty and smoky, initially fairly dry, with just a slight sweetness and acceptable hops in the finish. Hints of liquorice. Ashy aftertaste.
