This is a pretty beer - clear mahogany pour with a nice, thick tan head. Beautiful lace rings! Nose is nutty, some medium coffee notes, a tad metallic, but not offputting. Burnt nut and coffee flavors, caramel, just a touch of metallic. Mildly hopped, with a nutty, lightly smoky finish. Really a good brown - I am starting to appriciate this style... Nose of burnt cheese, light smoky pepperjack and some roast and vegetal peppery notes. The flavor has a gentle nutty toffee character and some roast, lightly spicy, finishes clean, a bit thin, but good. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 13, 2006 Bottle at Old Chicago. Served way too cold. Dark brown in colour with a small head. Roasted and malty with a nice level of hoppiness. Slightly bitter with a weak hint of chocolate. I think this would have been really good had the temperature been more accurate. eaglefan538 (2401), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 6, 2006 Definitely a plus if you like uniqueness. However, this was too much like a porter (weak, though) than a brown ale. Pour was clear brown with a small head, but decent head. The aroma was mostly coffee. The flavor was mostly coffee over top of some caramel malts and light hops. There was a metallic aspect to the aftertaste, which seemed to then be in the aroma a little. A rather bitter finish. Mouthfeel was somewhat light for the style. An odd beer. kramer (2515), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours a dark brown with a reddish glow when held to the light under a very creamy light brown head. Very good retention on the head. Aroma is of toasted and light caramel malts with some nuttiness, light fruitiness, and a touch of yeast. Flavor is interesting, nutty malt up front but the finish is a combination of chocolate and light smoke. Pretty big flavor for a Brown Ale. Mouthfeel is lighter bodied with a little too much carbonation making it foam a little as it hits the tongue. Overall, a pretty good Brown, much more intense flavor than the average. Worth trying, and the best from Nimbus that Ive had yet. decaturstevo (2010), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 3, 2006 Lovely brown with a tinge of gold. Pours with a slim head and a good lasting lace A good sweet malt flavor with just a tad of bitter. Smooth creamy carbonation. A slight off taste and a slightly weak palate keep this from being a great beer. Thanks craig cbkschubert (2020), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 27, 2006 Nice clear brown color with a light off white. Very light lacing. A very nice light chocolate-roasted aroma. Flavor has tad bit of chocolate to it. Hop bitterness compliments the malts nicely. Medium body. This beer is better from the bottle than the tap. Good beer. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA

Aroma very nutty, with burnt grain, chocolate and faint coffee. Flavor much the same. Lots of nutty grain with chocolate and coffee through the middle and finish. Very silky smooth mouthfeel. Very drinkable, well done brown.
