| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 26, 2008 Ruddy mahogany red pour; pillowy, creamy soda foam. Mineral, berry, and earthy toasted malt aroma. Candied pecans, and caramel, but more rustic than rich. A big, warm cinnamon spiciness in bonfire smoke unfolds with a surprising depth. Flavor is gritty, bittersweet pecan at first. Sugary tones of malt shuffle about; crispy hints of apple and candied nuts on basic dark bread. A wink of black malt astringency lingers a bit, with some grapefruity hop, waning into a sharp, sweet middle of baked pears. Thin palate is fittingly not sharply carbonated, retaining smoothness; finishes short, with some earthy sweetness of cinnamon sugar smacking lightly. Casually enjoyable. Thanks Joshua!
