Suggestive of a porter, somewhat. Deep brown color with a white ring for head. Near medium body with near creamy carbonation. Flavor definitely has chocolate, dark roasted nutty malt, and an underlying slight bit of sour. Finish is rather dry, and has a bit of hop. Seems like a mix of a coarse American brown ale and a smooth porter. Very nice drink. bsierra (213), Vista, California, USA

Light roasted malts lead to a sweeping warm hop, very deep roasting/chewy nut layer. Mild abv. with a sweet quick finish. A perfect accopanyment to my bar nuts and leftover enchilada flavored cheetos~ Snojerk321 (2027), San Diego, California, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 9, 2008 Bottle: Pours a rich brown with ruby tones and a huge beige head. Nose is hoppy with hints of roasted malt. Flavor is dark and malty, a bit of burnt malt. Some florals and tangy bitterness that I can’t put my finger on. A little earthy. Thin in the body, but refreshing. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 18, 2007 12 oz bottle. This is a decent brown ale. I don’t really like brown ales normally. Nice nutty aromas and flavors. Flavors move into caramel and chocolate all with a very nice toasty character. Pretty good DenverLogan (421), MileHi, Colorado, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 15, 2007 Mohagony brown color; small head of various size bubbles. Aroma of wood, dark malts, old sneakers. Flavor has some nice malts but there’s some sour funkiness, I’m guessing an undesired attribute. I’ve had this a few times and it’s not as good as the Old Monkeyshine, and neither are the rest of their distributed bottle line. riversideAK (2803), Shoreline, Washington, USA
