highibus (421), Mill Creek, Washington, USA Dec 19, 2008 a nice amber to copper color without much head. aroma of citrisy hops and also somwhat floral. medium body and I like that it has some maltiness but is not sweet. clean dry finish. Bockyhorsey (2487), Mesa, Arizona, USA Apr 6, 2007 Cbkschubert brought a growler of this beer to the Mesa Gathering. Malt on the nose but if you sniff like a puppy dog you will get a grapefruit aroma as well. Darker shade of copper body with thin head. Decent citrus grapefuit flavor and had more of a malt texture to it which I thout was odd. Medium body texture to body with smild bitterness. Little dry on the palate but a good refeshent as it was my first beer of the day preparing to host a beer tasteing. cbkschubert (1945), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA Jul 2, 2006 On tap at Nimbus - They finally brewed an IPA again. The recipe is has changed a bit though. Uses Simcoe & Columbus and dry hopped with Amarillo (85 IBU). Pours a clear deep golden color with a nice head that lasts. Big citrus hop aroma and flavor. Not much malt back-up on this one. Has a lingering bitter aftertaste. It actually got better toward the bottom of the glass. Medium body. A good beer. scottyg (79), Gainesville, Florida, USA May 1, 2004 A good IPA with nice color, flavor, and aroma. It has a bitter finish, but not too overpowering. A little sweet for an IPA, making it refreshing after a hard day at work. FlacoAlto (2473), Tucson, Arizona, USA Apr 11, 2004 This IPA is a clear dark copper color with an off-white head that persistently keeps a thin layer floating atop the beer until the last sip. An intense fake fruity aroma wafts from my glass, a mixture of tropical fruit and perhaps some notes of Simple Green cleaner (more interesting than offensive though). The taste is hoppy, but with out a whole lot of bitterness. The fruitiness lingers in the taste with some barely perceptible diacetyl in the background that adds to the competing flavors. This is an IPA with a solid malty backbone (as is expected from Nimbus), with sweet caramelized malt notes that are accompanied by hints of lightly toasted biscuits. There is a solid bitterness in the finish, it is just muted a bit by the medium bodied fullness of this beer. The hop flavor is a combination of slightly citrusy, with a bit of tropical fruit, and a hint of pine. This beer is definitely on the sweet side, but it is a good foil for the hops.
