The nitrogen-charged oatmeal stout is the best beer on tap at Nimbus (as of September 9th). Of course, I know there’s a lot of complaining about nitrogen making beer taste like month-old milk. Still, for me, the nitrogen does a lot to preserve the sweetness and creamy palate of the stout. When sipping the Nimbus oatmeal stout, it seems a little thin on taste as soon as it hits the tongue, but the finish is surprisingly flavorful (chocolate, coffee, oats). Every drink left me wanting another.

(Bottle) Courtesy of Ughsmash. Real honour to be the 100th reviewer of this beer. Thanks. Pours a thin, yellowed foamy head with an opaque body. Pleasant nose of soya sauce and oats. Very tart stout with coffee dredges. Average.

12 Oz Bottle via footy. Flat cardboard and white toast aroma. Light salted caramels. Faint roast. Spills a deep black-brown, with mahogany fringes and rim of tanned soap. Flavor is a static, wet, plain brown sugar and plum flavor. Old tasting. Bits of ocean flotsam. Finishes in the higher metallic range. Salted. Pretty weak stout base. Body is a nip thin. Soured coffee grains. Does not excel. A bit too still, but more carbonation would have blasted through the empty body of the beer, making it even less desirable.

black, fine thin brown head, light lace, huge smokey roasted malt aroma with an undercurrent of sweet carmel, creamy body, lots of roasted malt flavor, some oily character, touch of milky sweetness, big bitter burnt finish, some good pieces but they don’t gell

this is a very nice local stout that stacked up well in the year long ’greatest stout’ search my wife and I conducted in 2006-7

Bottle form helbilly. Espresso aroma with light head. This has to be the most lacing i’ve seen with so little head.creamy chocolate. nice sweet/ sour flavor.

Black, brown head that lingers for a spell. Aroma of dark roasted malts and espresso. Rich, signigicant carbonation, milk and bitter chocolate, carob and coffee flavors. Decent.

dark pour thin tan head w/ some light lacing. aroma lightly lactose definate milk chocolate a hint of vanilla nicely sweet. palate is overly thin but well caoted. Flavor is heavily lactic some light chocolates a bit chalky w/ a dry roasty finish. Not bad.
