Commercial Description:
A traditional stout using dark roasted malted barley to create a full-bodied ale. Rounded with the smooth flavor of oats, the addition of English Kent Goldings hops produces a creamy stout that has proven to be a favorite.

Very little head, which quickly peeters out. Totally dark without any light passing through. Wonderful malty flavor with a roasty bitter aftertaste. Not partkcularly sweet to my taste. Good scent. I’d have to say the best of the three Nimbus beers a friend bought back from Spring Training this year! Reminds me a bit of Obsidion Stout from Descuttes (sp?) Brewing.

Thanks to hopdog for this bottle. Pours a dark, dark brown bordering on black with a large rocky/bubbly tan head. Aroma of sweet oatmeal, chocolate, lactos and some coffee. Flavors of the same, with maybe some more coffee, but I’m also picking up a bit of metallic (not much, but a little). Liked the aroma slightly more than the flavor. A little on the thin side, still a nice "sweet stout".

Opaque, dark brown in color w/ a "grandmas got oatmeal cookin’ in the kitchen this mornin’" on the nose. The aroma is fantastic. Full nectar w/ dry earthy leather overtones in an oatmeal robe. Well balanced. Overall: my favorite oatmeal stout, reminds me of good ole’ granny.

This Nimbus offering is very harsh going down, as all of their beers are. I’m from Tucson, so I’d love to give a glowing review to a local microbrew, but I just can’t. This is not one of the better beers I’ve had.

Dark brown beer with a tan head. The flavor and aroma is chocolate/ coffee. The right amount of residual sweetness. A very good beer. The wife even likes it.

12 oz bottle, via FlacoAlto. Black pour with ruby highlights at the edges under a small light brown head. Aroma is dominated by chocolate with lots of roast as well. Accents of lactose, coffee, and oats. Flavor is a little too lactic and astringent, covering up some of the roast and more subtle flavors suggested by the aroma. Mouthfeel is a little oily up front, but thins toward the finish. I thought that this beer had alot of potential after such a pleasing appearance and aroma but it just didn’t deliver on the back end. Normally the addition of oat helps out on the body and mouthfeel but I didn’t feel that it made an impact on this one.

Nose of roasted malt, coffee and some light chocolate. Pours dark brown with no transparency and a tan head that doesn’t last. Very roasty with espresso and malt with light cocoa. Very light hops in the finish with a thinner mouthfeel compared to the top stouts.

This sweet stout pours an eclipse black color from a 12oz bottle. Large sized white beige foamy head with strong lacing. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla and coffee, kind of sweet. A medium bodied sweet stout. Malts are chocolate and coffee. The beer is a little lactic tasting, but very mild and only a little distracting from all the coffee flavors. This could be because the beer is turning or could from all the vanilla and cocoa flavors. Good balance of the chocolate, malt and coffee flavors. The lactic taste sort of works in this beer, I would rather it NOT be there but… Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
