| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 10, 2007 Very dark brown (opaque) with a small tan head. The aroma and flavor had hints of wet soil, mushrooms, roasted coffee, and just a little bit of dark cherries. The feel was slightly thin and watery, with a wet finish. Not bad.

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Oct 10, 2009 12 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with Sparky27. Pours black with a massive sudsy tan head. Even pouring slowly down the side of the glass the head rushes to overflow the top of the glass. This is clearly abnormal and makes me wonder if this beer is infected. The aroma seems ok with some chocolate and mild roasted malt. The flavor, however, is another story with mild roasted malt, red wine vinegar, wet cardboard and a bit of a metallic twang. Dry, chalky finish. I ended up dumping almost half the glass - why waste the calories on crappy beer?! BOLTZ7555 (1090), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 21, 2009 Dark chocolate pour with a 1/4 inch latte colored head that left a bit of lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, cocoa, and coffee...flavor is similar but has a little sourness and lactic quality as well. Really thin for the style. Not a favorite. iowaherkeye (1856), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | May 13, 2009 Another 12oz bottle from Sparky27, thanks Eric. Notched Best by July. Clear deep brown with a 1/2 finger tan head, low retention. The aroma has an off vinegary note--which makes me think. . . . I think I’ve had 3 infected beers from them already. What the hell is the deal? This actually slightly reminds me of JP’s Madrugada Obscura--but not necessarily in a good way. Aroma has light roast, a little dark chocolate, and a good amount of vinegar. The flavor is slightly less tangy with an herbal hop addition and light oatmeal. The finish is burnt and chalky--really damn ashy, too-- bitterness at a 2. Minimal carbonation with a light body. Another shitty beer from Nimbus--I think their only beer worth a crap is their English Strong Ale--though I forget the name. Soonah (931), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 5, 2009 From Sparky27 via trade. Cola like pour with a decent tan head. Spotty lacing. Aroma of pencil shavings, pepper, lightly roasted malt and some coffee. The flavor is spicy and peppery where it should be roasty and chocolatey. A bit of coffee comes through, but it’s the sour, astringent kind. Disappointingly thin mouthfeel. Had higher hopes for this one. theisti (1665), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 5, 2009 12 oz bottle from Sparky27. Pour is mostly black with light cordovan highlights, nice full one inch taupe head. Thick lacing as the head slowly falls. Aroma of mild roasted malt, with a hint of some tangerine sweetness and dusty peanut shells. Odd, never smelled that one (peanut shells) before. Taste is flat, old office coffee with some artificial sweetener mixed in. Remarkably, the peanut taste is present in the finish - along with a decent blast of Crystal malt. As this warms, quite a bit of diacetyl reveals itself, certainly detracting. Palate is medium, decently carbonated with a longish dusty finish. Interesting enough beer, similar to the other Nimbus beers, a little but all over the place. Thanks Eric! Avengedpoet (325), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 5, 2009 Pours thick black with minimal head. Aroma of roasted malt and a hint of oatmeal. Taste is very dry and acrid. There is a tiny bit of oatmeal in the background, but there is no residual sweetness in this beer, and the over-use of roasted malts really kills the taste. markwise (1179), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 16, 2009 Thanks gunhaver for the share. Pours dark cola brown with a dark tan head. Nose is slight smoke, heavy malt, coffee, and some pine. Flavor is slight smoke, lots of roasted malt, bitter coffee, and herbal notes with some hops. gunhaver (1025), Tampa, Florida, USA

Big chocolate roast in the nose, some coffee, oats and some good dry grain with slight fruity raisin. Flavor has big oats with chocolate, some coffee and dry roast, and a nice backbone of herbal hops. Dry, balanced, smooth and drinkable.
