FlacoAlto (2473), Tucson, Arizona, USA Nov 6, 2004 Sampled November 2004
This beer has a full deep amber color. It is ever so lightly hazy, and sits in my pint glass with a pale tan head. The aroma is an interesting mix of malt and fruit, with some spicy hop notes mixed in as well. The taste is actually quite a bit fuller and sweeter than your standard Oktoberfest beer. There are definite fruity notes here as well, which makes me think that this might have been fermented a bit warmer than usual. The fruitiness actually mixes interestingly with the malt and hops, and actually makes this beer seem a bit more like an Alt than an Oktoberfest, which is fine by me as I like Alts a bit more than I like Oktoberfests. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA Nov 1, 2004 tap at brewery-pours a deep garnet hue with minimal head. candy sweet aroma. flavors of munich malt, some hops but not very true to style when it was cold. tastes more like a malty amber ale. The beer had more marzen characeristics as it warmed up. the 6% was somewhat noticible actually. Not bad but just a little rough around the edges.
