Brownish reddish pour with decent head. Malty sweet aromas. Roasted coffee, nutty too. Flavors were similar with some vanilla and earth in to make it interesting. I liked it more than I thought I would. crizay (1050), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA

Flavor is toffee, chocolate, with the roasted malts and coffee coming through later. Nutty, caramel sweetness with roastiness and smoke in the background and aftertaste. This taste damn good. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Sep 2, 2007 Yet another bottle provided by Chris and served in my Ratebeer tulip: Rich ruby brown hue with a nice creamy off-white head and very good lace upon the glass. The aroma has notes of crabapple and elderberry esters, caramel and biscuity malts, EKG hops, and very dusty yeast vapours. Boy the taste is not what I expected at all with an interesting acidic twang and even notes of beets over an earthy layer of peat and wild flowers. There is some caramel and bready characteristics in the middle before the finish displays a chalky and nutty dry tone. The mouth feel is too thin and does nothing to enhance the experience. A beer that starts nice but flames out and never reaches what it could be. Arggh... SamuraiArtist (292), portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 2, 2007 Bottle thanks to Hillbilly: Pours a dark red and brown color, clear with very low carbonation. Musters a tiny head for about 10 seconds before fading away. Aroma of malt sugars and red apples and some herbal hops. Not what i was expecting. Flavor is very malty and fruity, lots of the red apple flavor, some red grapes in there as well, carmel. molasses and some toasty roasted malt and a medium nice earthy and floral hop bitterness. Medium body that approaches thick. Finishes fairly dry and kinda crisp. Very unique and satisfying. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

dark ruby red, scant beige head that’s easily roused, bits of lace, gusher but average carbonation, strong dark caramel malt aroma with light sweetness, creamy body, rich dark caramel and chocolate flavor, light fruity character, a touch of gritty brown sugar sweetness but otherwise dry, a touch of earthy hop flavor, very low bitterness but balanced,

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 15, 2007 Bottle from my parents from when they went to AZ. Pours out a dark brown color with a small tan head on it. Thought the beer might be flat, but it did have some carbonation in it. Smelled fruity and sweet with a little alcohol in the nose as well. Taste is sweet and sticky, not hopped very strong, and it does have a hint of alcohol in it. Not the best English strong out there, but its beer from a state that I cannot get anywhere near where I live. Good beer for what it is, and its pretty drinkable as well.
