Commercial Description:
Nimbus Red Ale is a rich, medium-bodied American-style amber ale. Known for its sophisticated mouth feel and exceptional drinkability, our Red Ale is a true classic. Copper-hued and well-balanced, Nimbus Red Ale has a lightly sweet taste enhanced with the flavor of four different malt varieties and flaked barley. We brew this beer with handpicked Chinook and Cascade hops. This combination gives our Red a mild malt sweetness and a relatively dry, aromatic finish. Never bitter, Nimbus Red is sure to please the beer lover who enjoys lighter flavors and a lower alcohol content. It's crisp, refreshing taste has made our Red a fixture at major sporting events throughout Southern Arizona.

Hazy copper pour, white head that stays. Aroma is biscuity. Taste is caramel, good amount of victory, biscuit malt, and hop bitterness. The bitterness has some citrus but not much. Crisp malty beer and a good example of a red ale.

12 Oz Bottle via footy. Caramel and candied orange aroma, sedate, slick and slippery. Pours a heavily hazed orange, with gold fringes, and a slimy grease ring of white. Flavor holds some flaccid hop character, rising with some Amarillo, then kumquat and tangerine. Light Asian pear. Malt runs in the generic line, bits of honey comb, bread and biscuit. There’s a marked feeling of thinness in the middle of the beer. Towards the back end, a more acerbic and planty hop figure. Some unique off-notes arising from yeast character, bits of aged fruit, plant parts and savory components. Mediocre.

muddled copper hue. aroma is mostly sweet malt/caramel with a mild hop funk. flavor is strange...sweet malt, aluminum and orange give way to a bizarre dried herb bitterness. it reminds me of wormwood or licorice root skins...my first home brew was better than this...

Bottle from BevMo, La Mesa. Pours a fairly light amber color. Sweet malty aroma with a decent amount of hops. A little caramelized. Light hop flavor with some more caramel. Finish is bitterest part. Nothing special.

Nimbus Red Ale pours a murky and dirty amber color with a mountain-like, fluffy, off-white, foamy head. It also has a crazy amount of very lively carbonation. The lacing is thick and plentiful. I don’t detect much in the aroma other than a yeasty/doughy malt with a hint of caramelized sugar and some delicate hops (citrus and floral). There is a hint of caramel malt and some sort of fruit (peach?) in the flavor. This beer is moderately bitter and has an earthy and lingering dry, floral hop flavor. The body is medium-light and pretty smooth on the palate (despite the lively visible carbonation). Not terrible overall, but not really that great either. I’d pass on this beer in the future... Stats: OG: 11.00° Plato, FG: 3.25° Plato, ABV: 5.0%, IBU: 28.8, Color: 13 SRM.

12 oz bottle (Notched Sep 06) from luiss. Thanks Luis!

Poured a lightly hazed light amber color with a very large off-white head. Papery aroma with toffee notes and a caramel flavor. Citrus hop finish.

Semi- floral aroma with just the lightest scent of hop and dish wash soap. Creates huge soapy white foam and sits upon a glowing auburn red. Some flakes are visible. The initial flavor is sour and tart with a fruit presence of grapefruit or unripe green grapes. Actually this taste a lot like green grape blended with a little bit of applejuice. How strange is that? Cool logo but mediocre beer
