ratman197 (3137), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jul 30, 2008 Bomber poured a clear dark reddish amber with a lingering ring of ambere foam. Aromas of carmel, cocoa, citrus and light earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel, cocoa, nuts, earthiness and light fruittiness with a smooth dry lingering malty finish.
A nice malty red for a change, but I’d still like a bit more fruittiness. JCB (1713), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jul 28, 2008 Bomber from Bottle Trek. A very thick looking red pour, almost like it’s congealing or something. Decent fluffy head with a very fruity, floral aroma. I don’t know why but for some reason I was expecting the usual American double red, which is to say an Arrogant Bastard knockoff. While this one is certainly well-hopped, it’s got a nicely balanced quality all its own, with citrus hops, sweet malts, and a fairly crisp finish. Good one. Ungstrup (14724), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 27, 2008 Draft. A hazy dark amber beer with a thick orangey head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of straw, and so is the flavor though also added a strong note of hops. Tejas (693), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 18, 2008 Hmmm, normally I love these big red brews but this one seemed to be lacking something but then again I’m comparing against Lagunitas’ and Alesmith’s imp red which I loved both. Still solid though and well balanced. Glad I tried it. ChainGangGuy (2522), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jul 17, 2008 Appearance: Pours a dark mahogany-hued body with a thin ring of white bubbles up top.
Smell: Toasted grains and caramel with a distant, though distinct spicy hoppiness.
Taste: Grainy, caramel maltiness with a light amount of sweetness. Even some roast in there too. Spicy, woody hop character with a medium-high bitterness. Hint of lemon zest. Dry, grainy finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Adequate and drinkable, I’ll give it at least that much. robforbes (1083), Bremerton, Washington, USA Jul 17, 2008 Updated: Jul 14, 2009old rating:

pour is a semi-hazy maroon, with a small tan head, and very good lacing.
smell of spice, some cocoa, caramel, some brown sugar, malt, and roasted nuts.
taste is smooth and creamy, caramel, some spice, hoppy, a little brown sugar, some bitter-sweet chocolate, and a touch of nuts, ends refreshing, nicely bitter, with a touch of citrus.
overall a well rounded strong ale. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA Jul 12, 2008 Darker amber color. Aroma is malt dominated with notes of sweet caramel and crystal malt. Grapefruit and citrus there as well. Medium to full body, fairly sweet. fuyajo (225), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 5, 2008 Pours to an opaque red/brown color. Not much head. Caramely, roasty aroma. Taste is fantastic. Lots of hops in the aftertaste, some sweetness. Need to re-rate to get more exact info. Regardless, it was the best red I’d had.
