| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of sweet, earthy malt, lots of red fruits/berries blending with lots of toffee. Flavor keeps some of those fruits but focuses more on the earthy malt/toffee feel. Almost a bit too earthy/grainy on the tongue for me, just not entirely my thing, but a very good beer. spikester (602), Salem, Oregon, USA

Pours deep rich dark brown with red highlights. Full light tan head with plenty of lacing. Taste is big malt profile with strong citrus hops. Much more balanced than some other strong ales. Alcohol is well hidden. An enjoyable brew will have some more. ditmier (1117), Boise, Idaho, USA

Very hoppy on the nose with some vegetable type notes. Bitter at first then mellows to a nice mix of the hops and malt. Medium level of carbonation that fades quickly, light on the mouthfeel.
