ElGaucho (1720), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA May 4, 2008 I have no recollection of this beer, but have a readable written rating of it so I know it’s legit. Piney hops that are fairy subtle. Hazy dark gold witout much head. Very solid. Their hops tend to be a notch below style: IIPA is more like an IPA; IPA is more like a Pale. Full bodied.
boFNjackson (475), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 18, 2008 PIB, tap... Poured orange with a white head. Really citrus (like candy sweet) hop aroma. Chilling palate that’s well in carbonation. Flavors of hops and sweet citrus and some cracker-malt. Finishes smooth. These guys make great IPAs. robforbes (626), Bremerton, Washington, USA Jul 18, 2008 pours a milky amber-orange with a small egg-shell head, good lacing.
smell of some grapefruit, a few malt, touch of citrus, some sweetness.
taste is grapefruit, pine, fruit, caramel, nice smooth and bitter finish. ChainGangGuy (1453), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jul 17, 2008 Appearance: Pours a clear, orange body encircled with a ring of white bubbles.
Smell: Aroma of citrus and apricots with no more than a light touch of malts.
Taste: Slightly bready maltiness with a bit of caramel sweetness. Taste of grapefruit rinds and apricots. Punchy, medium-high hop bitterness. Touch of alcohol on the drying finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A passable Double IPA. ratman197 (2176), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jul 17, 2008 Bomber poured a clear amber with a lasting light amber head. Aromas of carmel, eathiness, grapefruit, light orange and a hint of pine. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a lightly dry finish. Flavors of carmel, light grapefruit zest, light orange and light pine with a smooth lingering bitter finish.
I’m very disappointed in this beer coming from Oregon. Lots of bitterness but seriously lacking in hop flavor and aroma. blutt59 (504), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 12, 2008 bottle, malty oatmeal cookie nose, burnt orange color with a small soapy head, flavors run to malts, grapefruit and bread, very nice on the finish without an astringent bitterness some have
