Commercial Description:
Weighing in at approximately 10% abv, this beer is almost too smooth for its own good...Plenty of hop in the nose and mouth, but enough malt to make it scarily drinkable.

Fragrant aroma, hop oil. Fruity and floral, grapefruit and ozone. Strong. Light orange-amber clear with little head. Light smooth carb in heavy watery body. Silky. Nutty fruity taste. Sweet and oily up front with big sweet bitter finish and after. Big bitter, but not harsh and spicy. A great strong ale.

Cask... Poured a dark gold color with a decent off white head for a cask and it left nice lacing too. Nice piney, hop aroma. Bitter hop taste, full of resin. Creamy mouthfeel. This was a nice IIPA and my favorite of Friday the Firkenteenth!

One of the standouts at the HBF. Poured amber, with a huge hop, pine aroma. Tasted very hoppy, with a resin, pine finish. Well balanced and the alcohol was well hidden. Nice super hoppy finish.

On tap at the brew pub. Pours a translucent copper with lots of golden highlights and a medium bubbly/creamy off white head that left tons of lacing. Aroma was a big handful of the 3 C hops. Loads of citrus with orange being the dominant. Nice caramel malt backbone. Flavor of you guessed it all out west coast hops, pine, grapefruit, orange, great malt balance not overly bitter with a heavy does of crystal malt and lots of fresh hop flavor.

Appears a deep transparent amber with a great head retention and a 1 finger off-white head. Tons of lacing is so solid that is covers the entire glass and lasts for almost the entire enjoyment of the beverage. Smell is of lots of pine and orange with a nice biscuity malt as a backbone. Taste is of the same wonderfully done aromas, leaving me with a few nice hop burps to remind me that this is a goody. Mouthfeel is sweet, biscuity, orange/pine resounding the front of the tongue with the piney sap taste lasting after the swallow. Drinkability on this is great. The bartender was unsure of the exact abv but he said it was between 7.5-10%. In any case, it wasn’t very noticable and this is a winner.

I had this on tap at Sippin by the River last week and unfortunately, it was toward the end of the day so my memory is a bit fuzzy. I remember that it was very good and that I really liked it. I don’t recall it being overly hoppy for a double IPA, but again, it was toward the end of the day!

Memory of a draft at the Brewpub in the Summer of 2003. One of the "C"s must be Cascade. Big, fresh Cascade bouqet. Goes down like liquid hops. This beer has it going on.
