Mar 6, 2007 Nitro at Capone’s. Translucent, dark ruby body with a big, creamy tan head. Interesting aromas of chocolate, roast, and dark rum. Flavor has qualities of chocolate extract and substantial lactose sweetness. Ultimately, this seems too sweet and artificial by comparison with other chocolate stouts.

Feb 24, 2007 Updated: Feb 15, 2009Nitro Draft @ Capone’s (Norristown, PA) Black, with a thick tan head. Aroma was on the weaker side, but mainly chocolate malt. Nice malty cocoa flavor. I think I’d enjoy this more without the nitro.
Sampled again on tap at Nodding Head 2/12/09. Poured very deep brown, nearly opaque, with a dark tan head. Aroma is primarily cocoa, with some other roasted malts. Chocolate malt and cocoa are the main flavors, along with some dark fruit and slight vinous notes.
Body is a bit thin.

Feb 22, 2007 Draft at Capone’s. I loved the look of this one, with a deep black color topped by a gorgeous, 2-finger, creamy tan head, and tons of lace. The aroma was roasty malt, some chocolate. The flavor was on the dry side, with roasty malt, some dark chocolate notes, and slight coffee hints. Very creamy.

Feb 21, 2007 Draft at Capone’s. Deep black color.Good Lacing. Aroma of roasted malts and coffee. Full body. Rich, if not quite creamy texture. Slightly sweet and bitter finish. Pretty good. Not great.

Feb 21, 2007 On nitro at a Capone’s tasting. Pours a deep black with some amber and a large creamy tan head that left lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate, roasted malts and some caramel. Flavor of some chococlate and roasted malts. I think the nitro killed the aroma and flavor on this one though.

Feb 21, 2007 On tap. On Nitro. Poured a dark black color with an averaged sized light tan head. Aromas of chocolate and roast. Tastes of bitter chocolate and roast. Both the aromas and tastes were on the weaker side. This wasn’t bad, but I would like to have seen a stronger chocolate presence. Lacing left on the glass.

Feb 16, 2007 yep tastes like chocolate. it appears to be nitrogen but the texture says otherwise. tastes like a less impressive Rogue chocolate stout. i said to myself this tastes like a rogue chocolate stout homebrew clone.

Feb 26, 2005 Sweet chocolate aroma and a rich chocolate taste. Almost too sweet for me. Pours a nice brown with decent head.
