Draft pint at the brewpub. It’s black (duh). Thin, but sustained cloud cover. Light roasty aroma. Flavor is a bit sour at first, oddly, but the undertow is chocolatey and lightly coffee’d. Bit of a light weight for a stout, but sessionable. (#3192, 11/9/2007)

Draught at the Brewery August 8, 2006: Sweet aroma of chocolate and malts. Poured dark brown in color with a lasting tan head. Flavor was rather sweet. Tasted of chocolate, coffee, malt, and roasting. Soft carbonation. Dry, malty finish.

On draft at the brewpub. A boring stout. The pour was dark brown-black, not deep/pitch black, though, head ok initially, thinning to a somewhat weak appearance. The aroma was chocolate w/ some roast and even dark fruits. The flavor followed with oat / grain elements, caramel. Again, as with the BPA, a bit too small/watery, just a weak overall flavor. Watery thin mouthfeel too for a stout. Not a drain pour, but I wouldn’t order it again, although that didn’t matter ahead of the Flyers’ game 4 W over Les Habs.

Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Roasty aroma, with lighter notes of molasses and toffee. Smooth body. The flavor has roasted malt, oatmeal, molasses, and vanilla. Very drinkable.

(10/19/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in Philadelphia. Black-colored with a beige head. Roasted malt aroma with light fruitiness and some coffee. Sweet roasty flavor with some coffee, caramel and sugary notes. Medium-bodied. Not a very stout Stout, has almost kind of a Schwarzbier character.

Draft at the brewpub. Good beer. A little thin. This would be a good hot weather stout.
