Always psyched to try a new berliner weisse. Pours golden with a bright white ring. Nose is full of the woodruff. Taste is great, very tart, acidic refreshing. Yum. puzzl (2632), New York, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 23, 2009 Tap at the brewpub. When she poured this originally, I saw her squirt the woodruff syrup in without asking me first, which wasn’t cool at all. I had to have her pour me another. Bleh. Why would they do that?
Anyway, the beer had a very dull, spoony (?), mashed corn aroma. Small head. Crisp, clean and refreshing flavor, with a lot of wheat and wood, with a warhead-like lemon sourness flavor, though not nearly that tart. Easy drinking. I dug it. Certainly not the best BW by any means, I guess I just love the style. JoeMcPhee (5000), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 18, 2009 Very, very pale golden beer. No head at all. The aroma is very wheaty and lemony. Softly spicy nose with a bit of citric tartness as well. The flavour is also just a little bit on the sour side. Light lactic tartness with a lot of lemon and wheaty spiciness. A little bit grainy. There is a light sweetness that might come from the syrup (I didn’t see her put it in, but puzzl said she probably did). A fairly full body that is kind of unusual in a berliner weisse. It’s simple but fairly enjoyable. blipp (1679), Newark, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 6, 2009 Draft at the brewpub. Pours clear gold with a thin white head. Light aroma with a hint of tartness. Very nice crisp, light body with a tart citrusy lemony flavor, followed by a light and dry finish. Thirst quenching and easy to drink. Very tasty. peter (385), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 19, 2008 Nose is orange with a slight sour taste. Flavour keeps this up adding a real lemonade quality to it. Large dose of DMS on the finish, but is not undesirable. wetherel (1628), Encinitas, California, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 18, 2008 This is a beer I have been wanting to try for a long time, luckily I finally got the chance to try this multiple times at GABF 2008. The beer is a very pale, gold color and it is topped by a fizzy, fairly quickly disappearing, pale-white colored head. The aroma is noticeably tart with a light funkiness to it that lurks just beneath. This has lots of wheat character that reminds me of freshly crushed wheat berries; it really does have a hearty, whole grain character to it that is a mix of freshly threshed grain and expressive wheat aromatics.
The taste is exquisitely refreshing and this is so light on the Palate. It has a light, not aggressive, but noticeable / dominant tartness to it that cuts through most of the other flavor components. This is perhaps not nearly as funky as I might prefer, that the tartness makes this fantastically drinkable. After my palate adjusts to the tartness I start to pick up a solid wheat note in the flavor that adds a nice, expressive, grassy-grain and cracker-like notes to the finish.
This is one of those beers I just kept coming back to, a great example of the style and its light, refreshing qualities (yet with lots of flavor) kept me coming back for a Palate refresher. awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Oct 18, 2008 GABF 2008. Extremely pale, transparent, brassy gold color with a thin head of fizzy white. A pleasantly refreshing, tart, lactic wheatiness greets the nose. Hints of lemon. Very light bodied, crisply carbonated mouthfeel with a moderate acidity. Flavors of wheat and lemon with a moderate lactic tartness. Extremely light and quaffable, with exceptionally clean flavors. Refreshing. Closely resembles Berliner Kindl Weisse, but the flavors seem cleaner and fresher.
