In the past few years I’ve had this beer dozens of times with the woodruff syrup; last night i decided to try it without the syrup. Poured hazy gold color, with a thick white head. Faint lactic aroma, with some wheat in the background. Flavor was lactic and earthy, but was much more subtle than i expected (and hoped for). Finishes dry, with some lactic notes lingering on the palate. Flavors are very subtle, but it provides for an incredibly refreshing beer. TomDecapolis (3218), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of tart wheat, some lemon, Flavor of sweet grainy malts, tart almost artificial sourness, tart wheat, I guess the artificial type feel to this came from the woodruff syrup. Candy sweetness. Extremely tangy texture. Reminds me of the ’Zots’ candy that I had as a kid, only lemon flavored. Woodruff syrup must do some of this? beermonk (4), USA does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 20, 2007 This style is not for everyone, but I love it as a real thirst quencher in the hot summer months. I like it straight, without the woodruff or raspberry syrup. Very light body which is appropriate for the style. Citrus acidity in the taste and finish. It is really good beer. It was actually bearable and finished with some maltiness. Still a stupid style and i don’t know why anyone would drink it. scoobyluv (486), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
