White head and spotty lacing. Aroma of sour apple candy. Thin but refreshing texture. Sweet but mild flavor of wheat malt, with a tart finish. Not bad, but I must admit I am not too familiar with this style. mwoolley (5), Washington DC, USA does not count | 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 1/10 | 2/5 | 2/20 | Sep 7, 2006 Very pale, green tint in appearance with a subtle citrus aroma. No head to speak of. Extremely light in the mouth with a crisp, fine carbonation that clings slightly to the tongue. In the end it was the sweet berry-wheat flavor and tart, sour-pear finish that killed it. I don’t like fruity beers. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 10, 2006 Pale straw, green woodruff-tinted, effervescent body with a smooth, silky white head. Aroma of herbs and crayons plus some light wheat. No alluring bacterial character. Mostly dry flavor (despite the woodruff syrup) with decent tartness. Wheat character is very subdued and doesn’t really hold up. Clean lactic sourness pretty much drives solo here. Cuts the ridiculous 100 degree heat on this day, but lacks the depth of the few other Berliner Weisses that I’ve encountered. redlight (1490), Winter Park, Florida, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 9, 2006 Not much of an aroma. Pours a light blonde with a slight greenish tint due to the woodruff syrup. Has a good tart flavor, some acid, citrus, wheaty. Not bad. xproudfoot (729), Paleolithic, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 1/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Jul 11, 2006 standard lager aroma with a touch of dirty foot. Sickly green beer with siclier pale green head. cant say much for the flavor besides that its only notably acidic-sweet-shapr-sour, lemony with a light touch of rot. hopdog (5607), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 23, 2006 On tap at the Nodding Head and labeled as the ’Ich Bin Ein Berliner Weisse’. Poured a medium yellow with an averaged sized white head. Both the body and the head had a lime green tint to it. Aromas and tastes of a general herbalness, fresh cut timber, and light wheat. Finishes tart. hophead75 (1962), Boonton, New Jersey, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jun 21, 2006 sampled with and without the woodruff. Without: Aroma: very tart and sour, taste was watery, slight hints of wheat and honey, but barely discernable. not well balanced.
With: see above with some sweetness to balance the acidity.
why even make the beer if you have to add something to mask the flavor?? JFGrind (1353), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA

From what I read Berliners like something added to the Weisse to cut the sourness. Nodding Head’s version is no excemption, add some woodruff or raspberry syrup to cut the sourness. Just like adding a lime to Corona.
