Commercial Description:
Curse the heat of summer with this tart and refreshing Berlin-style wheat beer. Served with just a touch of woodruff syrup to cut the acidity. Enjoy!

Doughy, yeasty, apple aroma with a slight yogurt like lactic character. Clear and extremely pale blonde body with a low white head that vanishes almost instantly. Apple cider and wheat are apparent in the husky but extraordinarily sweet flavour. Light body with very low carbonation and watery texture. Well, that’s certainly a new take on the style for me. Sampled without the woodruff at GABF 2005.

Straight version sampled on 9/29/05 at GABF. Looks like a standard pale lager, clear and with a wispy white head of bubbles that almost immediately recedes to a ring and then nothing. No lacing. Not much aroma, kind of like wet wood, a hint of sulphur and just the faintest, faintest lactic note. Rusty metal even, with some dry leaves. Ok, now I think I’m just making shit up. Moving on the flavor, we have a touch of lactic acid up front, with a sweet, soft honey note followed by a lightly bittersweet lemon-lime flavor and just a touch of pale grains as it trails off in to watery nothingness. I think Lindemans Kriek might be more sour than this stuff. Terribly watery consistency, low flavor strength to match the low aroma strength. Probably not identifiable as a berlinner weisse if sampled blind.

Woodruff syrup version. Ghostbuster green apperance, with, again, no head. Aroma of pistachio and sweet almond liqueur. Flavor is light almond liqueur with a passing soft honey note. Acidity is completely erased by the addition of the syrup.

Extremely clear and pale yellow. Cider and soured apples, yet also lactic and celery nose, hinting a bit at urine, vinegar and oaky white wine on the way. Incredibly thin bodied, ponctuated the small bubbles bite the tongue intensely. Average balance, rather astringent acidity, but not too sweet at least.

Insipid yellow colour. Slight vegetal nose. (Some celery is standard but this is more of a random vegetable stew). Water, muddled flavour with only the slightest hint of acidity. Very simple flavour profile.

Very, very clear body that looks almost like water with a pinch of yellow food coloring in it. Nose-white grape juice and lemon. Taste-sharp, wheaty. Tatses exactly like watered down white grape juice.

GABF ’05. Very light yellow body. Lemony, pale malt aroma. Wussy tart flavor with a simplistic lemon tartness over pale malt. Meh.

Aroma, color, carbonation character and flavor of Mountain Dew. Easily the worst brewpub beer I’ve had in years. Thankfully, not indicative of this brewpub’s other offerings.

on tap at the bar. with woodruff (Zentis Beltrut from Germany), so the color is a bitchin’ pale neon green color, with a thick foamy green off-white head! aroma is fresh wet grass, granny smith apple, a little citrusy. flavor starts tart & sweet like a cider, then goes more tart. almost like a weak gatorade kind of tartness. a thin layer of dense lacing sticks all along the glass. high carbonation, mouthfeel is light but the syrup adds some slick texture. very nice for it’s style, would be good to put in the camelback!
