On draught at Nodding Head. Arrived at the table a crystal clear gold with a moderate white head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left a bit of lace. Light aroma of ginger and malt. The flavor contains a nice solid dose of ginger without being overpowering, along with some malt and just a bit of the lemongrass. Medium bodied and fairly smooth on the palate. Different and enjoyable!

Clean gold pour with a cream white head and lace. Light malt no hops, and light ginger. Perfumy with light sweet malt, and ginger. Surprising light/medium bodied with nice low carbonation.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours clear gold with a thin white head. Ginger features in the aroma, with sweet malt and iced tea. The flavor has ginger, sweet malts, and herbal notes. Decent.

I first had this brew seven or eight years ago while visiting friends in Philly. I thought it was one of the more repugnant things I’d ever tasted, with a really thin mouthfeel, but I gave the brewer credit for trying something wacky. Fast forward to last week, when a friend of mine visited Philly and reported drinking a really awful beer called Monkey Knife Fight, which grabbed his attention based on the name. I said I had tried the same beer many years ago, also because of the name. Imagine my surprise to find the same (somewhat respectable) bar is still serving this monstrosity, and that the brewer is still brewing it! So then I’ve gotta know: who the heck is drinking this stuff?!

On Draft at Nodding Head. Pours a piss clear yellow with no head. The aroma is some lemon and something else...maybe ginger. Taste is definitely lemon with some gingery notes in the finish. Easy to drink, but different.

Draft - part of sampler at brewery. This is an unusual beverage. Not bad, but definitely a touch on the different side. The ginger and lemongrass were a little too visible for me. Glad I tried it, but nothing I will seek out again. On a side note, my wife really liked it.

Tap – Nodding Head. Bright gold, creamy white head. Soft fresh lemony soap aromas ride undercurrents of herbal ginger-like notes. Irish Spring in a glass. Lemon grassiness and sweet ginger flavors balance each other from start to finish. Thoughts of Mellow Yellow crept into mind. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Not bad at all, just not my thing today. I’m guessing paired with Thai food though would make this a huge winner...
